Need timing help

I was going to put a new water pump and timing belt on a JDM VG30et. All marks lined up when I placed engine in #1. Took of all old parts and covered the engine till I get more time. Now none of the notch are lining up. Each cam notch is off (don't know if some of my friend mess with it trying to turn the engine not realizing there was no belt on the engine or maybe I did some how) anyways is there a easy way to correct this thanks.

Dont mean to bring you down, ( i usualy jump to the worst case senario), but the Vg30's timing is very important. there is no space for clearance between your valves and pistons if your timing is off.

So if you crank your engine with the wrong timing set your pistons might bend your valves. your engine will just sping and not fire up. Hopefuly you did not damage Pistons/valves.

my bad miss read the post, so both of your cam's timing notches are off, but the engine is still covered up and not in the car right??

Look under VG, I think You should be able to place it back to proper timing.

It is all apart and on a stand. What I am going to do is do TDC #1 then spin the cams so the notches are back on top. I was told that will work?
