My car is not just nice on the outside anymore (interior pics)

Well I finally got around to doing the ACC conversion and HUD install on my 92SE (Thanks Craig for the write up and Will for the part). I figured I would go ahead and swap my carpet and other black interior pieces while I was at it. My carpet from the 93 smelled pretty stale because it has all the sanding dust from the body work, the previous owner was a smoker etc. I took it out and pressure washed it, cleaned it with detergent and pressure washed it again (Thanks Matt for some pointers on this). It is one clean and nice smelling carpet now. I did the same to the floor mats. I had to hang them to dry for a day but luckily the MS sun dried them quite fast.

Here are a couple pics and then I will have a link to the directory for you to check out all of them.

ACC conversion pic:

HUD pic:

Shifter and Ebrake:

AE pedals and 350Z dead pedal:

Here is a link to the directory with all the interior pics. Check them out...lots of pics of my leather and such.

Now all I have to do is finish my door panels (doing that when I do panels for my Quarts) and I will be finished with the inside.

Wow, I am very impressed. Everything looks great. Very tasteful, IMO.

Personally, I am not a fan of the HUD, but it is cool just because very few have it.

I would love to have ACC in my Maxima. I have had it in both of my QX4s and I prefer it over the sliders.

Thanks,

Red92MaxSE---I actually think the HUD is the most handy of the 2 (ACC and HUD). I love not having to take my eyes off the road completely to see my speed. I had this on my 93 Altima and have wanted it on another car since then.

generation3---a lot of it actually is. The leather, shifter ****, ebrake handle, shifter boot, ebrake boot and pedals are all new. Well the leather is actually about 2 years old but its been in storage since I never finished the car it was going in.

CyMax---I used whatever detergent my wife had in the laundry room. I believe it is ALL or maybe Tide...just dont use anything with bleach.

You will be amazed at how brown the water runs off a seemingly clean floormat. Same way with my carpet. Both my carpet and floor mats looked clean but I had to rense a lot until the water ran clean.

If anyone even thinks of doing their carpet you need to take it out (obviously) and then take all the foam off. It pulls off pretty easily without tearing (mine did at least). You also have to make sure the carpet is completely dry because it will not dry very well once its in the car. I glued the foam back on with spray adhesive and it worked quite well. It was time consuming and dont think I would do it if I were not pulling the carpet out for replacement but since I had it out to replace my tan carpet I figured I might as well.

Wow you got the HUD installed quick. Good work. I don't remember that projection film for the window though. Was that something you added?

hadman---yeah I added that piece of tint because the numbers were doubled up (blurry looking) without it and very difficult to see in the day time. Now its perfect.

bobbydigital450---it was super easy BUT I had already done it on my 93 (craig came down to help me do it back when he was doing the write up) so I just had to transfer the main wiring over. I actually did it in a couple of hours since the hard stuff was done. I do have a tip and I will be adding it to Craigs write up since you have a 92 one of the wires you hook up to is a different color and you need to move a switch in the front (or bypass it since it will not be needed any more).

KLoWnPR109---yeah you are probably right BUT since we both drive like grandma we will never know lol.

Hectic---I prefer a leather wrap that follows the factory wrap (goes over the spokes as well) BUT this was already on the car and until I can get my other wheel recovered it is perfectly fine.

tripleGmax---I do have black leather (vinyl actually) for the door inserts. I havent put them in yet and am actually thinking of just painting the tan since I like the tweed fabric on the door. I am waiting until I see what I will need to do with my door panels when I make my speaker mounts for my Quarts.

Looks very nice, even the steering wheel skin looks pretty good..only thing I wouldn't like about the car is its a 5 speed...yicky..good for a weekend car..bad for a daily driver.

manuals are fun to drive, but driving one every day would get to my left knee and ankle..and I don't think a maxima 5 spd would like me trying to float shift..as a matter of fact, I think it would scream bloody murder about being forced to shift without using the clutch..

That is true, my Max just refuses to shift without a clutch. I'm hoping when I rebuild the tranny, and put new syncros in it'll clear that up.

who said its a daily driver. The only time I drive it is to enjoy it. I have a company vehicle for my daily drives.

Hey I swore I wouldnt get a Maxima in 5spd because I wanted the luxury of having the auto in a simi luxury car. I was way off and now I admit my wrong doing...I forgot how much fun a manual trans really is.

There you go... I've got a 04 Ford F-350 SD with Powerstroke V8 as my daily driver.

Then I have all my luxurious babies at home, just begging to be driven.

As usual Mike, Looks SUHWEET!

something you might want to try, I did this on my GXE and finished it on my yesterday, I took out the Bose speaker grilles (so far just on the front door panels), took the Bose plate off, threw away the little 'carbon' type paper behind it, and dremeled out as much plastic thats behind the grille, then painted the grille gloss black and then threw some clear on it....it looks very nice and very clean, then you can stick the bose plate back on if you want, I left mine off.

one of my grilles had a white streak on it that i couldn't get off so i just painted them both, very shiny and very classy looking IMO

they are basically brand new. I got the Katzkin leather about 2 years ago. Then I had them in my car for about a month before I pulled them out and put them in storage while I worked on the car (they were in my 93). I got this car and that was one of the first things I installed. So although they are 2 years old they only have about 5 or 6 months of use on them.
