heres a link on how to replace a clutch it goes over how to remove a 5spd but it would be basicly the same for an auto except (shift cable, trans coller lines, torque converter)

ask and thou shall be answered

gimme a shout if there's anything you wanna know. actually pulling the tranny is quite easy if you have a well equipped garage. the hard thing is to get it back in right. but I guess you're not..?

I've done it like... hmm... 4 times now so I'm pretty sure of how to do it

hehe yeah

first time I took it down it took something like 3-4 hours. last time it took somewhat 1½ hours

as I've said before, basically what you need to do is:
remove wheels, then driveaxles and startmotor, hold the tranny up in a overhead crane while removing 4 metal holds (2 fastened in engine, 2 fastened in chassis) plus the turbine to engine bolts, then the whole thing should come down. oh, and don't forget there are 5 (I think) electrical connectors to disconnect, as well as 2 hoses going to the radiator (tranny cooling). that's about it. should be 48 bolts total.

the pin bolts (studs) in the turbine bottom that fastnes the two holds to the engine are a *****, and the inner hold mounted to the chassis closest to the cockpit is a damn nightmare, other than that it's fairly simple. just remember to support the tranny with a crane or from underneath or whatever meanwhile, or you'll be replacing the engine soon as well

Go to Control Panel and select Add Remove Transmissions. From there, select the transmission that you want to uninstall and click Remove. Follow the on screen prompts. When finished, reboot. At that time, your transmission will be gone. Enjoy!

wiking wishing again..?

talking about it, I just have to tell this joke...

the executive of general motors Richard Wagoner and Bill Gates were chatting one day. Bill said to Richard;
-'You know Richard, if the car industry and the computer industry had gone hand in hand together you would now make cars that would run hundreds of miles on a gallon of gasoline, they'd accelerate from 0-60 in a couple of milliseconds and they'd cost a tenth of what they do today.'

Richard looked at him for a while then said;
-'Yeah sure, but no one would like to crash 5 times a day!'

hehe...

anyways... I've finished my 'pulling the tranny' guide. still just text thou... no pics but what the hell, it'll tell you what needs to be done. here it is:

good luck!

there are 3 bolts that hold the passinger axle to the engine mount. if you havnt removed those thats your problem.

i can get a 5speed out without removing the passinger axle but the auto might be to big

you need to take the bolts out, and they should be all thats holding the tranny in, you can go ahead and not worry about the other axel till will come off that when it comes off the touque converter

Lots of parts are identical... front/rear folding seats fit (means chassis 'internally same'), rear shocks fit... what isn't?

VG30E Automatic uses RE4F02, might be the same, compare that number.

VE has RE4F04

VG and KA24 use the same trans, at least internally.

Just follow the writeup... it tells you all you need, should be easy enough to understand once your under the car. Supprises me you say 2 mounts when there are 4? Also be careful about having the tranny lean like that, you could damage the goods or the threads. And above all, did you remove the 4 bolts to the flywheel / turbine mount? That's *really* important so you dont damage the flywheel or the tranny turbine axle. That could be the thing you're referring to as the shiney part with teeth. The flywheel as teeth that the starter uses to turn over the engine.

This tells you everything: http://www.cardomain.com/memberpage/749143/2
