did you get that out of an automotive school book by any chance?

btw, can that really happen to an engine if driven with a bad injector? i could have swore that i drove around with half my injectors bad for about 6 months. after replacing all injectors, engine runs like a charm

As far as I know it can easily happen while starting but is not permanent.. ie crank it again and it will break the hydraulic lock. So basically it doesn't matter just can be a bit of a pain starting once in a while.

Ummm, you can't "break" a hydrolock, once it actually happens you are looking at a new motor.

95% of the time a bad injector will dump NO fuel so no hydro-lock. BUT you can damage your cylinders because the cylinders then lack the lubrication and coolant that they need to function.

So if I'm trying to unblock a plugged injector by using pour-in injector cleaner for a week or so, is my motor in danger or not? All the other injectors are fine.

ouch, i read using injector cleaner will make our injectors prone to failure. dont take my word for it tho, some of the more experience members should have more to say about it.

I remember that hydrolock due to bad injectors is dependent on if they get stuck open or closed. Hydrolock is also a danger when you change an injector and pinch the o-ring causing fuel to get into the cylinder. I have used BG cleaner from nissan and it does work pretty good.
