Follow-up on "The Injector Killer" Vol. 16, Pt. 4, Ch. 3
**The technician found the vehicle's #4 fuel injector has failed and will have to be replaced. The vehicle is NOT safe to drive at this time, as there is a danger of the engine becoming hydraulically locked.

a fluid is a fluid is a fluid. 110 octane will eff up injectors just as much as 89 octane will.
oh, and Jeff: Yeah, I know. That's why i took it to the shop.

But he also replaced injectors 4 and 6 at that time. Afterward you could hear a misfire in the exhaust, much worse than the one before.

Higher octance gas is less explosive, burns cooler, and has less 'cleansing' ability as purer, lower octane gasoline.

because when the codes were pulled, the screw wasn't put back. it was in Mode IV: on/off switch mode

I think both of you need to take your Maximas and roll them off of a cliff, then go buy Hondas that won't break down.

Are you saying you take your own car to a shop??

Of course I have.. I do what I can to fix it, but if I can't then I'll get a pro to do it for me.

Once. And after the screwed up and I had to redo what they did, never again. And I've done ALOT.

Besides, there are more than a hand full of people who have told me Nissan/other mechanics have told them their engine was blown/rod knock/whatever when it was simply VTC noise.
The only time my car has ever been to a shop was to an allignment shop, and the only thing I have not touched or replaced on my car is body parts and anything below the cams, above the oil pan. That does not count the number of engine swaps I have done and helped with, along with the spare motor I have.
Jeff has done even more than I have.

Funny what you say about the VTC ticking being misdiagnosed.. because I ended up actually getting my car from a dealer for the sole reason that the VTC ticked.. let me explain... (this is first time ever from dealer, I always buy private).. the dealer's OWN mechanics told the salesmen that the car had SERIOUS timing chain/cam or worse issues causing that noise. I took the car for a test drive, sneaked in the ground fix, and sure enough it stopped the noise immediately. Of course when I got back I informed the dealer that their mechanics were indeed correct and my own independant mechanic had quoted me a HUGE repair bill !!!.. so I got the car dirt cheap. Ok Jeff92SE maybe your right I have done something dishonest.. once.. and I kinda felt bad.. but hey it was a car stealership and I'm sure they still turned a profit or they wouldn't have sold it.

It's bad when you assume Dave. I told the NISSAN tech (which are supposed to be professionals right?? ), to fix SPECIFICALLY my VTC assemblies. They did not do it correctly.
What kind of rookie just says "fix my car?" anyway?
