Ok I got a stock 94 gxe automatic.

When I just start the car, the rpms are a bit unsteady and fluctuate from about 1-1.3k rpm. When I accelerate, even slowly, the rpms go to about 4k and then roughly shift to 2nd. After the car warms up, usually takes like 10 mins of driving, the problem seems to go away.

I was thinking it might be the tranny, but then again how can the problem go away in 10 minutes. I also think it might be some of the spark plugs not workiing well which causes my engine to run at 3cyls for a little amount of time, and after a while the sparks break through and work fine. My mechanic said it might be the mechanism that control temperature-rpm, and it might be false sensing cold weather, thus causing my car to run at higher rpms when idle. I am not sure what that part is called though.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

The reason why your car seems fine after 10min is because it takes that long for your car to fully warm up. It sounds like a transmission problem or it could be something else like your mechanic was saying.

i think alot of people have similar problem to that. best thing to do usually is to let the car run for about 5 min before moving it, the car will then warm up enough and it should run normally after that

You can't address driveability problems until all the basic things are right. The igntion system has to be in good condition: plugs, cap, rotor and wires. The intake and fuel system has to be clean: throttle body, injectors, fuel filter and air filter. Vacuum lines have to connected and not cracked or loose fitting and the PCV valve has to be working right.
Transmissions do not work right with old, burnt, dirty fluid, and valves and selenoids gummed up with varnish.
If an 8 year old car has just had oil, filter and plug changes, it doesn't run right any more.
