Vacuum leak?

i think i have a vacuum leak somewhere around where the throttlebody is.
i replaced about 5 of them that i could see that looked cracked and rotted. if i have the engine running and i pull the throttle cable quick and short i can hear a hissing, although when its idle and can still hear the hissing but its not as loud, although it is constant.
the only thing i can see that looks bad is there is a vacuum connection that doesnt have a hose on it... although there is no suction or anything. but if that end is disconnected, there has to be another end SOMEWHERE that isnt connected. i cant seem to find any other connection disconnected though.

help me out im lost

to help with the location of it, if you look at the vacuum from the front fuel rail and follow it back to where it connects, the disconnected one is right below it maybe an inch. it is black plastic opposed to metal.

dont know if any of this is helpful if u dont understand what im saying just ask, i need help.

Find a manual that has vacuum hose diagrams in it, that will save you alot of time and trouble.

You could grab a Haynes/Chilton for short change at your local parts house. I found an 'only missing plastic wrap' new FSM(factory service manual) for the same price on ebay, though. That's the money shot. Grab the FSM. You will smile every time you see it.

.

that hose sounds like the tranny breather (its the hose next to the MAFS, that turn back towards the ground, but not connected to anything).

nah, its not the tranny breather. is right by the firewall and there is no hose its just a connector that doesnt have a hose attached to it. it goes into something electronic, it has two plugs coming out of it. and if u follow the front fuel rail's vacuum line all the way back to where it connectes(also right by the firewall) it is RIGHT below it, like 1-2 inches.

thanks for trying to help though eric. if i hadnt just put in a new tranny then i would have no idea what that hose was... lol thanks

could it be the EGR valve or its circuit, thats all that I know thats back there. the EGRC gets a vacuum supply then a second hose leaves the egrc and feeds the EGRV.

edit: also don't forget about the valve covers, they seem to leak after a while, and thats killer vacuum leak if it occurs.

Could you help us all out and post a pic if possible? I'm sure that would help immensely.
