you dont need to replace the computer (the ecu has nothing to do with the HUD) just the control box Craig mentions. Please read craigs write up and re read it until you understand it.

It only took me a couple of hours to do it from start to finish including cutting the dash and soldering all the wires. Its not bad at all...at least not compared to the ACC conversion (which I still dont think is that bad). I have done both and I have done the ACC twice (as well as a ACC to MCC swap).

have fun, take your time and read, read, read.

not only are you NOT reading the write up but you arent even reading my post.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO TOUCH THE COMPUTER (ECU) ON THE CAR...sorry for the caps but I want to make it clear.

You get the small HUD control unit (dont know if thats what you mean by computer but its stated in the write up that you need this part anyway so why would you ask if you need it if its stated you do?) that Craig mentions and tap into a couple of wires...its not that many wires at all...again read the writeup. You dont have to solder if you dont want to. Just crimp if its easier for you.

There is no plug and play on this you have to do some cutting of wires etc unless you want to rewire the whole car for just an HUD which is kind of pointless and a whole lot more work.

serously read the write up a couple of times before you ask any more questions. Every thing is in there I promise. I used it as well as a couple of others so it works.

as far as the ACC conversion...to me its not hard at all just time consuming but I will say its much harder than the HUD. Craig also has a write up on it.

yeah, like awsm66 said, it has nothing to do with the ECU so I'm a little confused on what you're

IMO the writeups are great and you'll have no problem Like he said, just re-read them a couple times and it should start to make sense

alright never mind, i dont know how to word the previous posts. i went to the junk yard, they didnt even have a HUD maxima, they had a 240SX HUD, well it was still in the car. will that HUD still work in my max since it came out of a 240 SX??? roughly around the same year as mine??? (91)
since i cant find a maxima with one, maybe the 240 SX will work........if not, does someone have one????? i am VERY low on money, so i cannot spend like more than $40 or $50 on this unit. dam junk yards!

I think you could probably wire up the 240 one if you had some skillz, but the trim piece is definitely different and would not fit without a lot of modification. I'd say it's one of those 'if you have to ask, maybe you shouldn't' things (for the 240 one at least).

Good luck finding a HUD, they are very rare, especially at a junkyard.

And I agree with realgoon, resize your sig pic It is nice how the max and the RV almost match though. Maybe you could trade wheels with it.

man, if you're going to do the HUD project, $40-50 will not do it.

at the junk yard i go to, it is a u-pul it, so you pull it out yourself, he said $40 for the whole unit.....but of course i have to take it out and stuff, but would the wiring be the same for the 240, well im just gonna avoid the 240, im not that big of a risk-taker....... thanks guys, if u ever get a HUD around $40 or $50, then keep me in mind!!!! thanks alot. sig fixed
