i got 235/40/18 all the way around.

btw, the rims are all the same size 18x8 with 30mm offset. but the tires are staggered on the g35 the rear tires are 245/45 and the front are 225/45

 

yeah haven't totally decided. I'll probably sell the 17s and maybe run 300z 16 fronts for the winter. But I'd need to get my extra set of Z rotors machined down. But all it would take is to take off the brackets and I'd be good to go. It's one idea anyway

Heh, sorry to steal your thunder a bit man. But I've been looking for these for quite some time. Post up some installed pics asap.

I know the set is staggered though. But man, the 245s are huge compared to the 225s though. Didn't think it would make a big diff until you look at them. What tires did you get?

 

haha no thunder stolen, we are the only two. technically mine were mounted over a week ago so i beat ya, hehe, but i had rubbin on my rear wheel well from an acident that didnt get fixed properly.

those 245s do look massive. im running kuhmo asx tires. i went for bang for buck tire that had decent reviews on tirerack. i got them local though for 560 installed.
i need tuner lugs for them still.

The ASX are good tires from what I hear. Let me know how you like them. The guy that sold me the wheels, gave me the lugs but I ended just using my lugs I had for my other wheels. No tuner lugs needed. But I did use a Discount Tire lug wrench that has a thinner lug socket. ie.. about the thickness of a Gorilla lock socket.

 

They are not that light. But a bit more than my SVT 17x8 with tires. I should weigh them sometime.

..no bish...but dang those things are wide..i'm scared to run anything wider than 235s. I'm surprised 235s are going on an 18" wheel though.

 

I ran 245-45-17s on my Cobra wheels. It rubbed very,very slightly out back. But these 245-45-18s are 4.7% larger than oem. Sorta big there. I kinda laugh when I look at the car. The 225-45-18s are about 1.7% larger than oem. Triple's 235-40-18s are right on the $, I see why he choose those. I'm going to see if a G owner wants to trade his fronts for my rears and just run teh 225-45-18s all around. Close enough for me.

Actually you are referring to width. 245 > 205. Height would be the aspect ratio with 245-45-18 being taller than the 205-65-15. I just turned the fronts lock to lock with no rubbing. But I'm not going crazy on these either. Just driving around to make sure there's not odd rubbing on dips and hard turns etc....

 

What, were the cobra wheels too played out for you Jeff?

The G35's look really nice though! It looks like there is plenty of clearance for the Z calipers. You said you might use 300z 16's for the winter, will those clear the calipers with 300z rotors? I'm just asking because I'll be getting that setup here shortly, and I'll be needing a new set of winter wheels.

Jeff those 245s look slick. I will stick with my 235s though.

 

Brad. Haha. Actually the Cobras are still one of my fav 17s. Can't beat the look, size and bbk clearance w/o spacers. If I go with the 300z 16s, I'd lose the brackets and use the 300z rotor (shaved). That should clear.

40 = side wall profile
18 = diameter of rim

 

235 = total measurement of rubber including sidewall
40= percentage of first number that is sidewall
18 = rim diameter, not to be confused with tire diameter

Are those the factory tires for a G35?

 

Naw I put the wrong sized tires on for the hell of it

 

I didn't know if the G35 came with say Bridgestones from the factory and the PO switched to the Michelin's

 

naw. factory tires. The wheels that I'm getting next have Potenzas though. Will be a shame to part with these G Michelins. Anyone interested in some 18" G35 coupe wheels/tires? Triple knows. People gawk that these things. Especially with the polished calipes.

 

man you can get probably get somewhere around 1400 for those things on ebay jeff. why are you not keeping them? what wheels are you getting? did you have any problem when you put those on with the g35s center caps? my backones wont fit at all and the front pass. side wont fit, so only one fit. do you think it would be bad to shave a bit of the cv axles that sticks out the rim?

 

I might do that, I don't know yet. My centercaps just pop out just a tad. I might get some othe 18s. It might take a week or two to finalize everything.
