Quote: I would think the wider tires would reduce understeer because of more rubber in contact with the ground it just seems like it wouldnt slip as much.
are you sure you got that down properlly?.. "wider tires would reduce understeer because of more rubber in contact with the ground it just seems like it wouldnt slip as much" if you reduce understeer like you said, then technically you increase oversteer, so how is it not slipping as much with wider tires? oversteer is when your rear end wanders off somewhere usually on rear wheel drive cars, but which front wheel drive cars suffer from that? they understeer like crazy, don't wanna turn for sh*t, and with those wider tires, ur keeping that rear end planted even more = increased understeer because of more tire and grip on the ground. someone correct me if im wrong.

IIRC you are very correct. Due to the front providing all of the power and steering you experience both tq steer and understeer while you foot is on the gas. The more grip the better the response but that's only when you are not giving it gas. When you are providing gas thus making or maintaining the engines power to the wheels then you are 1) Applying tq/hp to the wheels and 2) increasing the downforce that is being applied to the tires via tq.

OK I'll stop being Mr. Obvious now.

12 places in my apartment complex, 2 roommates per place equals 24 max parking spots used, since there is a rule for one car per person, yet we have something like 50 spots....

i get tired of door dings, if i catch someone dinging my door, they will be very sorry

Thanks.
i have a small rubbing issue, but my car was in a small accident and it rubs because of that. its a tiny rubbing issue that i will fix by the end of the day, it only rubs when i hit huge bumps or take turns that have large hillybumpthings.

Hello, Not to butt in, but I was just looking into Infinity rims on eBay to find a replacement for one of the 6-spoke I35 rims I just got that was damaged, and I saw the same rims that you have. I think they are replicas, so I'm not sure about quality, but they were going for $440 a set. Just type in "I35 wheels" on eBay.

I was wondering what they would look like on a 3rd gen. They look great! I hope my I35 17" rims look as good. I will post pics once I get them installed.

Take care,
Mrkanda

Also, I wanted to ask, how is the ride with that size rim/tire combo as well as the drop and Tokico's compared to stock. The reason I ask is that I like the comfortable touring feel, but I want the look and performance that you have. Do you have any trouble with the ride being too rough now or scraping speed bumps, inclines, etc?

Thanks
Mrkanda

One more thing- I was reading about someone else getting 350Z wheels and tires and putting them on a 3rd gen, but they used the tires that came with it- 235/45/17 front and 245/45/17 rear, I think. Anyway, besides the obvious issues of rubbing/possible speedo-errors, I had another thought. Like I read in a recent auto mag recently about the new SC'ed Pontiac GrandPrix GXP w/ a V8 and FWD, would it help handling/weight distribution and understeering problems to have wider tires up front and norrower ones in the rear for FWD cars like ours? Thoughts? Thanks.

mrkanda, those $440 rims are knock-offs they say they are made in an oem facility, whatever that means.

also the ride is actually pretty good. i have 18s, 1.7 drop and tokicos i dont drive like an idiot or pretend my car is a racecar, but its fun and the ride is actually an improvement from my stock rims and unbalanced tires. i think i would scrape speed bumps, but i avoid them.

as for wider tires up front on fwd car yeah it would be a good idea, except we dont put down gobs of hp so its really not gonna improve much on the street. go to the wheel and tire section and check what size tires you should have to keep your speedo on and hints on what to get.

as for the lexus wheels, they are alright, but im not a fan of chrome on imports. take the chrome off and gunmetal them and they are sweet.

Quote: no, let me clear that up, alot of people think the rims are staggered. its the tires that are staggered......

Yeah ummmm. I'd have to say I don't like those rims on your car. I think they look terrible. And in my honest opinion, there's not a lot of rims out there that look bad on Maxima's. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen any rims on the org. that look bad on our cars (except Mr. Gone's dodge durango wheels). But, everyone else seems to like them and that's what really matters.
