Question about FSTB
I know that this issue had come up somewhere in the past, but after trying to read 15+ pages of posts, I decided to risk being flamed and post a question instead.
Besides Otto racing and Stillen, what other company makes FSTB for the 3rd gen?
I have read that other gens of Maxima's FSTB will also be a direct fit for the 3rd gen, but can't remember if it was a 4th gen or a 5th gen, so which is it?
and the last question is that, no doubt, some of you might have encountered the FSTB they have for sale on ebay stating that it will fit 89-99 maxima, and cefiro's, at only 10 bucks a pop, I wanted to give it a try, but they said something about it won't fit 89-94 SE, is there a reason for this, or just the seller have no clue what the hell they are talking about?
Note: Please disregard the post in the FS forum, I forgot that I was in the FS forum when I posted that thread

It depends on what engine you have (you didn't say).
The ones listed on ebay for a 89-94 will fit a VG with no clearance problems. I think any 5th gen one will fit, too. I don't know about fitment of the 4th gen bar, or if it is different than a 5th gen one. No one seems to have one.
The 5th gen FSTB on ebay will fit the VE. There are two different brackets on the passenger side, though. The one like the Otto bar uses, clears everything easy. The generic ebay 5th gen one sets the bar on the AC line pretty snug. I have had mine on for two years with no problems, but it is touching the AC line.

mine is a generic one for the 5th gen, that was originally bought on ebay, all I had to do to make it fit was move the AC line out of the way

the one you're talking about will fit the VG fine, but it won't fit the VE. the VE's intake manifold is larger than the VG, so the bar would rub on it.
FYI, I have a used stillen bar here.. want it? $80.

thanks for all the input, and no thanks Matt since I have ordered the generic ebay one. I had to run to the hardware store to get a slightly lower width nut so that the assembly will fit. Other than that, the fit is superb, no prying necessary. Man, these things really improved my handling, no more dips and car-about-to-roll-over feeling at the curbs. Now I just can't wait to get my whole suspension and brake system done, and get that much needed alignment, its a scary feeling going 75+ and your car will steer itself, and slight input in the steering wheel will not do anything
. Any discount internetautomart?
twinkle: what school are you going to attend? and by all means, use your survival instint if you're going to live around the Camden city(near the city hall) area, and stay out of East camden as well, we didn't get voted most dangerous city for nothing. j/k aside, just becareful and you'll be fine.

Got mine today and installed. Had to repaint the ends... didn't like the color. Wasn't too hard, but it gave me a chance to play with my new aircompressor
Pics can be seen on my cardomain site... Link below Didn't take too long, like 15 mins. Most of that was getting the bar to look centered.

nice looking paint job I may say, I have the same FSTB, only I had left the ends black since my car is black, and one of the adjusting nut is replaced with a lower width one so the fit is perfect so the bar is maybe off centered for about 1/8 of an inch.

here... I'll post a pic for you to make it clear
The center dash piece sticks out so that it blocks any chances of putting the trim for the radio on. So I had to cut some of the excess material off. One of the problems was after so much material was taken off, it made it real flimsy and wouldn't stay hooked onto the radio. So I had to take some screws and mount it onto the center dash piece.

I need to pick up some more clear coat though. I was cleaning my TB and IACV, and some of the carb and choke cleaner got onto my intake. And the paint began to run. So I had to spray that and fix it.
