My 92 is officially gone now but here are some pics after I painted it
The guy picked it up this morning so its finally gone. I added a spoiler for him and painted the whole car (I kept the kit because he didnt want it).
It was a fun car but now its gone to someone that will appreciate it more than me. Someone that will drive it to its potential instead of grannying it all the time.
Anyway here are some pics of it after my paint job:
and there it goes:
there are a couple more pics here that I didnt post

Mike, sorry to see your car go. You really are genius with body and paint. It was definitely one of the sharpest 3rd gens in the country, at least of the ones those of us on this board have seen.
Hey are you still going to be painting the smoked corners? I was considering this, I just need to pay off some other stuff first.
Shoot me a PM if you get a chance.

Aztec Red is one of the more rare colors. I would keep it that color, especially considering how it would look painted a different color with red under the hood, in the trunk, doors, etc. Unless you plan on stripping the car down and repainting EVERYTHING, I would stay with the stock color or something close.
I recommend PPG paint, but I am biased. My brother worked there for a while and my father-in-law owned a body shop (recently sold it) that is a PPG-only place.

joe94gxe---I painted the car myself. I spent about $500 on supplies including paint.
Mattster---I would leave the car red unless you want to pay a lot more to have under the hood, door jambs, and trunk painted. I have done the color change (well not finished with it) and its a lot more work. I also recommend PPG paint but there are a lot of other good paints out there as well (DuPont, Sherwin Williams etc.)
Red92MaxSE---yeah I will still tint corners...I have a set now I need to do for a guy. I just now got the mixing paint though since my last batch went bad.
I really liked my car but the truth is although I liked my 3rd gens I never meant to be a 3rd gen collector lol. My heart is in classics and I need to get back to them.

car looked better with the kit in my opinion, but you had that car perfected let me tell..
ill be getting my corners tinted by you soon. great job on the paint job you did. im in the same boat, i always wanted an older car, but i drove this thing and fell in love. good luck with the classics.

as a whole...well as halfs lol. I painted the front half (doors, hood fenders, grille and front bumper) seperate from the rear (roof, trunk, quarters, rear bumper) because I only have a certain amount of time for it to dry and keep dust and bugs out so its easier and I can use faster reducer and hardener on small areas. If I had an actual paint booth then I would paint the whole car because its a lot easier that way.
BUT you dont just paint one panel at a time with real paint equipment...its a waste of time and hardener, reducers etc...not to mention you would have to tape all the car off just to do one panel then the next day (needs at least a day to dry) you would have to tape off everything but that panel you are painting that day. It would take forever and isnt worth it.

oh god, not one of these. dude, i'm not trying to hurt your feelings or anything, but i'd have to be a pretty ignorant person to not know what he means by "classics".
i was declaring the 3rd gen a classic car. you know, with the gavel smiley and emphasized word.

HAHA I love the org.
The thing is my first car was a 60 Chevy stepside (my uncle has it now). My second car shortly after that was a 69 Chevelle and then a 66 Chevelle after I flipped the 69 (very sad day indeed...but I did get my 66 out of it). I got that 66 when I was 15 (yes I went through 3 cars when I was just 15) and I still have it at 33.
Originally I got my first Maxima (90) for a nice car for my wife to drive that I paid cash for. Then I was looking for parts for it to make it a little nicer (just wanted a spoiler really) and found the 93 for sale on here. I bought it because I was going to fix it and give it to my wife since it was an SE and nicer over all than the 90. Well that is what started my mod craze with the 3rd gen and it went on from there. I really never intended on doing so much and owning so many 3rd gens (6 including 2 parts cars)...it just kind of happened.
It partly happened because I really like the styling of the 3rd gen (still do) and its been a fun car. I did not get rid of it because I dont like the car but because its killing me (and has been for quite a while now) to see my Chevelle just sit up while I am spending money on a early 90s car. I had an opportunity to get out what I have in the car which is rare on an early 90s car so I took it plus I could use the money right now anyway. I have stated it before...I love cars...imports, domestics, classics, newer cars etc...I love them all and find something to appreciate in all of them. I am not your typical hot rodder that hates imports (obviously).
My point is that I had my fun with the 3rd gen and I learned a lot about body work and paint but I really need to get to working on a 60s muscle car since that has always been my love.
I am going to buy the paint for the 93 in the next week or so and try to get it painted and put back together so I can get it sold as well. Of course I will be posting pics of it when I am finished as well.

This thread is missing pics from Austin
Michael- I'm in kind of a bind I want to do a whole bunch of junk to the mustang now, but I'm hesitant to drop that kind of money on it. I did with the maxima and kind of wish I didn't . I dunno, I suppose if I go one step at a time.... (then again it doesn't help that I'm looking at a $2500 steering rack or $1400 in brakes that would then require new wheels and tires).
