i'm thinking it is a vaccum leak.. but i don't even know where to look first on the leak. i was planning to run higher octane and clean out the injectors with two treatments of fuel injector cleaner.. or maybe sea foam? are the vaccum hoses easy to replace? because i was tugging on them once and i couldn't take the ends off from the engine.

When u pull a hose, physics dictate that then it stretches. This means it crimps, diameter will be smaller, if possible. Not helping u, huh? Thereby the hose has to be pushed, not dragged. Pushing enlargens its diameter. Also theyre kinda baked in. But now there is one invention used in this pushing: a screwdriver...

Hope will not hlp, action needed: tst u sensors one by one MAF, KS, Cam Pos, clean connectors for those, ECU.

my car had a horribly bad idle problem when i first got it... to the point of stalling in really sharp turns, such as the "U" turn. It turned out to be a bad injector, I think mine was #2 that went bad. Idle was rough til about 1k rpm... anywho, have all those injectors tested... just to be sure, and if you can, have them tested on professional equipment. That way you can be 100% sure they're good.

i haven't seen a factory vacuum hose that couldn't be taken off by hand...usually their own vacuum is what secures them on..
look for any other hoses that may feel brittle or loose...have you checked you iac?

around what RPM is your idle

Bad idling

After numerous attempts to correct my rough idle and the putt putt sounds in my exhaust, I resorted to replacing fuel injectors. Still rough idle. Now what. Checked everything out but still pointed toward injectors. To make a long story short, I pulled the injectors again and found I must have rolled an o-ring. repaired, put back together and idles perfect now. So the moral of the story is, Don't think to yourself that the plugs and wires are bad, and the dist. cap and rotor gotta be the problem, no has to be the IACV. No, has to be a vacuum leak. Go with your first instinct and listen to the experts on this board that knows. If you have a rough idle that appears out of nowhere and it was running fine. THINK FUEL INJECTORS. Trust me

Troubleshooting:
Cheapest/Easiest tuneup first; injectors are the last in the line as theyre most expensive and most laborious. And as sometimes it happens that the reason is injector [...100k or over], no harm done as reliability has been lifted on another level by replacing all which has been worn with the miles.
