amazing VE if interested at my dealership
I work for Infiniti of Golden Valley in Minnesota. Last week we got the CLEANEST 3rd gen ive ever seen, it looks like it just came off the show room floor. its gray with gray interior. the craziest thing is that it only has 15xxx miles. the catch is that they want $10,600 for it. when i saw it i re-fell in love with maximas (i crashed mine a few months back). its not on the lupient infiniti website yet cuz weve only had it for a few days.
Just wanted to let people know about it

damn...$10g!! If it really IS as clean as you say, they had better offer a healthy warranty with that. But i'd be scared of the motor though...it would mean it hasn't been driven at all...an equivalent of just over 1000-miles / year. Body and interior would probably be superb.

Ya at $10,600 it had better have a warranty and every option possible on it. But nonetheless it is always nice to see such pristinely-kept cars. I too would be wary of the engine. All kinds of parts in there will not be broken in, let alone be used to regular use, and who's to say that car had 1000 miles a year put on it? It could've had a few thousand put on 1 year, then none the next, and so on. That could wreak havoc on the car's reliability.
That said, I'd love to be able to see this example.

I don't think many people would pay $10k+ for a car that old. I would guess that not many banks would give a loan for a car that old, regardless of mileage.
I just looked on kbb and a 94 SE (newest one possible) with every option and 15k has a high book of $6900.
It would be pretty neat to see, just for kicks. If you have a digicam you should take some pics of it to reference what one looks like in near showroom condition.

300zx's are maybe going for that much but not 3rd gen maximas.

i dont have a digital camera (and if i did they wont let me take pics of our inventory).... but seriously look at any advertisements from the early 90's.... thats how clean this thing is, theres not even corrision on the wheels. i agree with all of you that i would be scared of the motor and almost $11K is way to much. i check KBB also on dealer trade in value. they said 1800, and they gave the guy 8000 towards a new infiniti. i have a feeling that its going to be sitting in our used car lot for a long time.
o yeah, its not fully loaded. cloth seats and no sunroof, i havent asked about ABS or airbags. i would still love to get my hands on it though, ever since i saw it last friday ive wanted my 92 VE back

the reason its 10 grand is because it is at a dealership, you don't see maximas that year at dealers too often, especially major name dealershiips we only hear of deals taking place through private sales or ebay. Thus the 10k

run a car fax to make sure it has 15K. if i had the money, i would go for it. very hard to find a clean, running proper VE. forget about the engine, there are other things in cars that get ruined over high mileage. IMO, if you love a certain car, i think its definatly worth it. its like going back in time
and to the rest of you, why is putting only (example) 1,000 miles a yr on a car bad for the engine? i just can't seem to get that. i mean, i know an engine is built to work under extreme conditions, but if you ain't usin it, how are you hurting it?

Don't kid yourself. These cars are awesome, but no one is going to pay that kind of money for that car. Even in showroom condition. I'd say it's sold wholesale for about 3 grand in less than two weeks. Wait and see.

not too mention the seals that dry out from lack of use.
I'll take high mileage anyday over a low mileage older car.
actually I've done that already too.

There are plenty of low mile old cars that are just fine. You mean to say all those ultra low mile classic muscle car, exotics all have ruined engines now?? I don't think so. Just start it every once in awhile and it would be fine. Would be better to drive it a 10 miles or so though.
As far as price? Well I paid about that much. But that was back in 1998. haha. But now? Probably not. The car doesn't justify the price. There is no real upside to paying so much for a low miler maxima. The dealer will just let it sit there until:
a) Some sucker who loves maximas too much decides to get reamed and buys it.
b) The dealer gets too tired of looking at it and sells it for like 60% of what they are asking for now.
But for $10,600, you can bet they will let it sit there for some time. Because if they actually do get that, they will make probably $5000 profit easy.

it's mostly because of the motors, and most are subsequently modified internally.
#22
Why would a low miler:
1) Have to be restored? All original mint commands more $
2) Would internally modify a low miler engine? All original commands more $

2)if it's a "muscle car" they swap the internals that you can't see.

older cars are restored because they have been sitting for x number of years and need it...not because they had low miles and needed to be restored because of lack of driving over the years.

I know my mustang sat in a garage for over 4 years when I saw it. Besides, she only has 48k on her and at 37 years old, do the math. Plus I dont drive it but once every few months and I dont have any troubles with it. Yes, I should drive it more often but meh. She still starts up perfectly every time. I know recently my Dad has started to drive her to the gym, which is only a few miles away. No biggy to me, I haven't put gas in her in over 2 years

it would be very interesting to see the histor on that car.
a sub, cd changer and aftermarket H/U are not normally found on a car that old with that low of mileage.
also is it my monitor or is there no nissan logo on the steering wheel?

That airbag setup is not original I don't think. Aren't the cruise control buttons in the wrong place? Sure spent a lot of money on the stereo for a car with only 15K miles. Somethings are not adding up. I'm sure it's low miles but it seems like there is something hiding there. I would say 6500 max if it were me. My car has more equipment than that. (not in as nice of shape though)

haha wow this is so weird, i just saw this car on ebay like 10min ago and started going crazy over it, thinking i'll come here and post a thread about it, but I just realized how late I am...
After finding out the stealership wants $10K for it, i almost flipped... but im still amazed in the condition the car is in. Someone should buy it and put it in the museum.

haha I love all these 3rd fanatics slamming on the brakes when they see that pricetag...I think I would buy if I had the money, but only if it were flawless in and out, and after a THOROUGH testdrive to see about the knock sensor and everything else. A few years back there was one in the DuPont Registry with something like 20 miles on the odometer and the plastic still on the seats, and they wanted over $25,000 for it. I probably would have bought that one too, a brand new 1994 Maxima in 2005, how cool is that???
