What's the potential HP output of the VG without changing internals and using no forced induction?

with cai, intake, udp, custom y, headders, exhaust, ecu 190-210 @ the crank if you are lucky. (that is assuming that JWT clames are accurate for 20hp/20ftlbs with ecu and intake)

They dont make headers for the VG do they? I thought headers for the max were unheard of.

92GXE, touring wing, 18” racing wheels, Port&Polished intake, custom intake, custom yellow interior, racing seats, back seats taken out and replaced with subs and amps, NOS kit, Suspension tech. Lowering springs, custom grille, soon to be custom painted and have the whole engine rebuilt for big shot NOS and custom SC and tranny converted to 5-speed.

nismo87 se circulated the rumor that the vg30dett exhaust manifolds would fit on to the vg block because the bolt pattern and gaskets were the same. THe issue is that the egr return line would be located at the rear of the engine and would have to be re-run around the engine. This is all I know untill i can justify the expense...

Has anyone used the headers before. I'd hate to buy a new set of headers that didn't even work. If it is just the tiniest bit possible I will do it. I like installing things that are a challenge. Esspecially things that hardly anyone else has.

You can make as much power as your wallet is willing to allow. Honestly you would be pushing it to get more than 160hp at the wheels from an auto. But the 5spds are capable of 160-175hp with proper headwork and cams.

I'm thinking about maybe going the custom TC route instead of having to deal with the tranny swap. I just think that it would be a pain in the ***. I really just want a MAxima that will keep up with a vette. When I'm done with it I'm buying a 95 cobra. That will be my speed machine. Hopefully I can get it to run street legal 10's with NOS and SC!

the twin cam VG was produced from 89-96 and i belive that it still may be in limited production for the Z in japan. it was found in the z32 state side from 89-97 and was rated at 300hp for the TT and 222 for the DE (na z and ~215 j30) THe tt was detuned in 96 to pass emmisions and was reduced to 280 hp although this is seldom mentioned.

Chris, why don't you just get a Vette? I drive a '91 Maxima, but I also have a Vette. The VETTE is just starting to work when the Maxima has given me everything it has!

The corvette is my favorite sports car but I cannot afford that right now. I'm only 18. I can get a 94 cobra for around $10,000. It's cheaper and easier to fix up the mustang so thats my next project. One of these days I'll definitely have a vette. I cant look to far ahead right now. I work on getting one car at a time.

Corvette and $$$

Chris, Corvettes aren't that expensive. I paid the same for my Classic Corvette that is appreciating in value. It is up to $17000 from the $13000 I paid 4 years ago. You can find a late 80's and even all the way up to an '88 for under the price you will pay for a civic! And let me tell you, with a few inexpensive mods, you will have a World Class Sports Car and an American Tradition! My Maxima is fine for taking the wife and kids out to dinner in, and driving to work on rainy days, and I do LOVE it's performance as a sedan...but the torque and horspower are in the Vette!
