Rust

Anyone have any tips on how to go about reparing this?

http://www.cardomain.com/ride/749143/4

Especially the leftmost picture, it seems a bit difficult to do well...

wouldn't I need to replace some metal? you think it'll hold up if I just sand it down?

U know it after some scraping: take big screwdriver and release all tax hatred against it. If theres now a hole for squirrel, weld it - its main support for door&roof. Otherwise its going to live and shed out all pasta. Important also is whats gonna happen inside that stucture - oilspray...

But the color! POR15 IMHO comes as gloss/semigloss black, white, clear and a couple others, but not light blue. He'd have to use clear and mix with pigment which is a PITA.

lol all tax hatred... actually we did that last friday when we smashed a Fiat Uno to destruction. we wedged the gas and let it rev max for as long as it could take... after 8 minutes it overheated and started to burn hehe

I'll try and see if I can cut the rusty metal out and replace it... my only worry is the difficulty of forming the structure. it's probably gonna be a pain.

it doesn't really matter. I'm gonna repaint the whole car anyways

how long was it that you repaired it, and has it held up or has it started to rust again at the same spot?

that's my main concern... they say when the rust has started there's really no way of stopping it, only slowing it down. perhaps if you replace enough metal around it it'll stay away...

perhaps I should explain to our american friends what this means

Biltema is a car parts chain over here that manufactures and sells very cheap parts. most of it is pure **** IMO. my brother bought brake rotors from them just a couple of weeks ago and they were skewed he couldn't even install the calipers. and that's not the first time something like that happens either...

anyway Biltema black is the ****....if you're a farmer that likes to drive lowered volvos and drink vodka... normal people go to Mekonomen (same sort of company only better parts)

Take a clip from the roof of u fiat; its possibly the only nonrusted place, possibly steel? At least if its not from Malmö riots... Just weld it insomewhat higher, whack it level and use bara lite filler. Make sure its rigid enough for the filler not to crack. And like I said, oilspray inside or next year you'll see rust again.

I like Biltema: have bags of good biltema sunglasses. Nobody cares when I /kids sit on and crack 'em... Another issue is: such companies keep gouging spares_hop$ at bay: their price is online and results in local shops charging exactly that +postage. The only bad tingie is that Bil Thema = Volvos... Or Maybe two/three Nissan Micra parts.

Check out: http://www.biltema.se/

I'll try to do a nice job with it... and I won't forget to oilspray, I promise!

Well Biltema holds parts for almost all Volvo, Saab and Ford cars ever sold here, other than that they are more of an accessory shop nowadays. I mean, check their website, first thing you see when clicking 'Car' is a sunchair, a battery charger for AA size batteries and some kind of backpack..? What has that to do with car parts?

No Biltema is good for nothing, visit mekonomen instead.

...hmmm, big shop for nonmax, only rear max shocks for -93, pricey:
Benämning Placering Information Artikel nr Pris
Stötdämpare bak insats 10-MR245 1028:-
They have also made a pact with stealerships not to sell the front shock$?

Best EU places I've found for aftermarket cedric/maxima parts are www.sapmotors.com (uk, bought from there LIP shocks for -90%)
also http://www.motonet.fi/Malli.php

Well actually Mekonomen got almost all parts for Maxima. Some exceptions though, maybe the front shocks is one. I wouldn't know, I'm only looking at aftermarket shocks

I tried your link but when clicking Nissan the page reloaded and that was it..?

I'd love to find a EU shop though... to get away from import tax. I'm sure there's a lot to save on that.
