anyone have warpspeed catback

anyone have the warpspeed catback, wanted to know if the hangers are there already on the muffler or do you have to get them welded. ive seen some pics of magnaflow mufflers and they rusted from the welding on the stainless steel.

yay for good thread!

youre talking about my muffler pics. i didnt buy my muffler from them. so no hangers came with mine. but you could call and ask. my rust was so minimal, but if you ever weld to stainless steel its hard as heck to not get rust to happen. but anyway to answer your question better, you could tie somehting around the muffler to secure it and put hangers on that. then no rust.

Or you can weld to any SS you want, and get a special primer and paint it all, so it wont rust. Saw it on a show. I want to say American chopper but I donno.

Warpspeed is least expensive system for our cars, to my knowledge. However, it shows. The hangers will rust, there aren't enough of them, it needs to be cut to fit (at any local muffler shop.) I know they are well respected... but they are not the best product on the market that is for sure. What you do get is a full (or catback system) for a good price, as long as you don't care about rust.

I purchased the y-pipe, magnaflow high flow cat, and catback with 14 in resonator and a bull nose tip exhaust. It stuck out almost 4 inches from the bumper, and even now after cutting the pipe where the muffler meets the b-pipe it still hangs pretty low (although it is flush w/ bumper now). I am not worried about rusting, the car is over 14 yrs. old...however I have had much better exhausts, and want to let potential wrpspd. customers know whay their exhaust is so inexpensive. It is still a good mod, just not as quality as other mfrs.

Also- my warpspeed exhaust had very few hangers, especially at a critical point where the exhaust was only pressure fit (the resonator section to the exhaust section), with no bolts or gaskets to seal the exhaust. I chose to have extra hangers that linked up to stock hanger points on the frame welded on so it would be more stable and less stressed at that point.

That's funny, Mine was just put in and there were hangers at all factory locations. I did the complete system with new cat. The only spot there wasn't a hanger was with the muffler and that was because I went with something other than the magnaflow they offered. Also, the only place that was pressure fit was the spot where the resonator met with the B pipe and at the muffler entry. Will the hangers rust? Yeah it's possible but that is any exhaust system.

As far as welding on stainless and not gettign rust that isnt that hard. Prep thje surface right and gert someone to TIG weld it with a stainless rod then sand and polish. Also have to use stainless for the hanger but who cares cuz then it is done right.

If i took my stainless muffler to a shop and the morons welded it wiht regular steel i would be pissed.. then again i do have 24/7 access to a TIG welder

there are zero gains from a catback

and it has absolutely nothing to do with the thread. It doesn't matter if it was built by some mom and pops shop and they used JB weld or if it was made by Stans Headers, it's not a WSP so it is not going to help him in any way.

Inexpensive exhaust: Warpspeed full system. You have to have the y pipe in there or there are no gains.

I wouldn't worry about exhaust aside from a Y-pipe

spend the money on a fidanza, UDP, ECU or nitrous

UDP

remove old pulley (1 bolt, air tools helps)
put new pulley on

Fidanza
remove transmission
remove clutch/flywheel
install fidanza/clutch
install transmission

UDP probably $150ish
Fidanza $350ish?
