Removing Right Halfshaft - Need Help!
Removing Right Halfshaft - Need Help!
I need to replace the right halfshaft due to a split CV boot. Succefully removed the axle nut, separated the ball joint, got the halfshaft out of the hub, and detached the bolts from the support bearing bracket. However, the halfshaft couldn't be pulled out from the support bracket. It seems the bearing and the bracket have become one piece after 13+ years due to rust. Multiple applications of WD-40 and Liquid Wrench didn't help. I have gone so far and would hate to give up at this point. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
P.S. Which is more effective, WD-40 or Liquid Wrench?

you have to call it lots of dirty names and get out the BFH "big fing hammer" and beat on it. where do i beat on it you ask? you hit the "bump out" that has the threads in it "there are 3 of these for the bolts that hold the axle into the bearing" and you hit it so it will turn "not accually come out" but if you get it to turn you can then get a crow bar in the and separate it
trust me this will work ive proboly done it on 4 or 5 3rd gens and they all had original axles in them sorry if its hard to understand what i said but you should be able to figure it out
PS i use PB BLASTER it eats rust like no other

Its common problem to all fwd cars: my solution has been a long chisel -like steelbar, drop it downwards from engine bay, place it on top of the assy where pieces should separate, hit with a hammer. Two ppl is good in here, another keeps the edge on the separation line, another hits with hammer on the steelbar end.
Btw. Maxima automatic is BEST!
