high idle
i know that there was a post on the problem i am having but cant seem to find thread. on my max i am having a problem with high a consistant high idle. when i turn the car on the idle is normal at about 500 rpm, but a few minutes later it jumps up to either 1500 or 2000 rpms. if it was winter then this would be fine, but the idle should come back down to 500 rpms, but mine never does? any insight on my problem would help. Also, i have changed the coolant temperature sensor also, thinking that mine had gone bad, but didnt change anything?

Possible ECU problem. If it went straight to 1500 like mine used to, I'd say it was the IACV... but since it'll idle at 500 for a few minutes... something else is wrong.
The FSM lists the procedures for checking for codes. I would go get it, but it's in the garage, and I'm in the middle of NFSU2

jkmay01:
Clean IACV first. Then ECU etc connectors, groundings. Check voltage. Test Stepper motor by force stepping it...
IACV: When stepper motor axle 1b. jams, ECU tries to overcorrect this way/that way etc

the rubber insulation around the main idle value was cracked and i did clean the engine bay so once i straightend that wire out along with the wire to the sensor that is opposite of the throttle assembly next to air intake the idle dropped back down to 500 rpms !!!! I have alot of my rubber insulation that is cracked just due to age and heat from the engine so if water gets in the insulation this could cause some false readings. thanks for the input though!!!
