Made my clock always fully illuminated

Since I hadn't seen a sticky or write up for 3rd gens on how to make the clock stay bright all the time, I decided to experiment a little. I don't know whether this has been done before, so don't flame please. Tell me nicely if it's a

I don't have pictures yet, but it's pretty simple. All you need to do is:
1) Go to Craig Brace's page and follow the instructions on how to take apart the dashboard and remove the clock
2) Locate the red wire with the yellow stripe and the black wire with the red stripe. You will need to cut both.
3) Make sure all wire ends are taped before putting the dashboard back together

That's it!

clock talk

The clock in my '89 has a mind of it's own. It'll be dark for months, then light up w/ the wrong time. I can set it, but then it's gone again. Does Nissan still sell clocks for '89s? Any idea on a price? Does "Craig's page" cover a clock R&R? My head unit has a clock, but I'm about to replace it and the new one doesn't.

Chances are the junk yard ris have shorted clocks too, they ALL short, but can be resodered.

And yeah craigs pages shows how to repair the clocks.

I kind of like the dim and not dim parts, but nice writeup none the less.

You can probably simply remove the blades of those wires from the connector, instead of cutting. Before you sell the car, you can put the blades back (for the very **** buyers)...

err, cutting is just as easy. when it's time to get rid of the car, pull the dash cover back out and butt-connect those two wires back in. done.

as for the dimming clock fix, it's shown on Craig's page if you want to try it yourself, or I do it for a small fee. see my website for details.

What I think is awesome is that my clock thinks its hilarious to not work for MONTHS at a time, and then start working the day I decide to rip apart the dash to put in a new one, and then stop working the day after

keyless entry

Does anyone know if the keyless entry lock mechanisms can be taken off the door handle mechanism, and if so, just changed with the old one and it will have the same passcode? Mine seems to only want to work sometimes, and it's kind of annoying. OR if it's possible, to turn off dummy locks on these things?
thanks.

Dear Newb,

This is off the topic of the current thread.

Someone will arrive at your door shortly to castrate you.

Have a good evening.
