bumper paint - comes up much darker

I had posted while ago about painting 93 maxima bumper ( TK3 code - some blue). I am on a budget so I got these rattle cans (Dupli Color). I wasn't expecting a match to color of my car. But atleast it should match its color (which is on the cap of these cans).

It came out much darker... what could be wrong?.. I didn't put any primer on bumper. It was black in color (the plastic) before painting. Any ideas...
Also strip on door (i don't know correct name) has come off slightly.. Can I put general purpose glue to keep it together.???

dude the reason why its so dark is cuz that what u said u didnt put any primer on it so the black plastic of course made the shade of color far more darker then had u put on some grey primer first

no you guys are wrong...the bottom color only comes into play IF you don’t put enough coats on to hide the bottom color OR you have a translucent color (such as candy colors).

Once you get to the second or third coat of the paint it doesn’t matter what the bottom color is...now with thin rattle can paint it may take more than 2 or 3 coats to fully hide the bottom color.

I got a question for you maximalover

Was it a brand new bumper that was all kinda glossy. Cause mine was like that and I did not sand it down before painting. So now I have to do it over cause the paint chips very easily.

Hi MAXIMUS G EKSUS
It wasn't a new bumper but old one got flaky paint. I didn't sand much of it and also applied the paint just like that.
It didn't come out well at all. Now sanded it and applied primer. Waiting for a sunny day to paint it off...

Any way I am repeating my other question..
Also strip on door (i don't know correct name) has come off slightly.. Can I put general purpose glue to keep it together.???

make sure you apply a clear coat after you paint your bumper, it will help protect the paint and is much easier to clean your bumper when flies will hit it ! hehe

For your strip on door I am not sure of what you are talking about. Is it the plastic thing which protects our door from other drivers when they open their door in a parking lot ?

I am not really sure on that one cause I don't really know if it's screwed on or not from the inside of the door. Maybe someone can help. But maybe an idea would be to use so double sided tape.
