You might want to check your brake fluid level.......probably low.

is it your "ebrake" light, or your "brake" light???? If your brake fluid is low, the brake light will come on. Now the more important question would be...why is it low???

Your fluid might be low, or there is a possibility of your e-brake switch is sticky/stuck.

I should know that it's most likely the fluid. I remember being low so I guess I check it out

If your braking feels mushly or weak then its the fluid.

I doubt that its the cable.

Definately check your fluid in the master cylinder. If it is full, then I will give you a warning that your alternator could be on its way out.
