I am going to buy some suspension package in the next month. I am pretty sure I want to go with the Tokico's as struts cause' they are more affordable than Koni and perform similarly. My dilema is with the springs...I like the Eibach springs cause' I live in MA where it snows during the winter so the 1.25 drop wouldn't be as bad...on the other hand the Suspension Techniques springs cost much less and are only .25 lower then Eibach.
So my question is should I go with Eibach or Suspension Techniques? Which ride is harsher? Is 1.5 vs. 1.25 better for the NorthEast?

Help me out here.

Thanks,
Roman

i have ST's and i like em, but if i could do it all over again, i'd put a set of progressive springs on. that's what i'd look for if i were you. my buddy did a 2.24" drop on neuspeed progressives, full race, and his car rides better than mine (it's an accord!). so if i could do it all over again, i'd go progressive. and a 1.5" drop isn't too extreme man.

The Eibach's are a progressive rate spring. When a spring has that section of unevenly spaced coils at one end it is a progressive-rate spring. Means it takes more force to compress it the farther it gets compressed.
I live in PA and my car has to deal with snow. No problem with Eibach and Tokico's. Nice ride. Handles great!

st springs

I have the ST springs and i like em allot, the ride in a car with ebach springs will be realy nice (handleing wise)I personaly think that my ST springs look 10 times better than the ebach on a car. But they also handle pretty well. So ST=styling Ebach=handling pretty simple

Re: st springs

my ST springs handle really well, defenitely better than stock. hey Z, do you have a camber kit? if not, do you notice any uneven wear on your tires? i just put my springs on, i'm just wondering.

in the NE the eibachs were as far as i am dropping it for now...especially with the CAI and future plans of a bodykit..

the handling is there, the looks are there...im happy...

.25 isn't much but it's enough to affect the ride quality...styling is the same with both springs i think...

I can't coment on ST or eibach,I have Sprint with KYB and was very impressed with the looks and handling. Some people say KYB are the same as stock but they made a huge differance in the way my car handle. I figured since i don't race around corners at 100mph the KYB's would be fine, and let me have more money to spend.

I would go pretty fast with that setup in snow..hehehehe

So are people saying that the ST springs produce a harsher ride than the Eibach? Right now I am kinda leaning toward saving $50-$60 and going with the ST springs...the only thing I'm concerned about is the ride quality. I guess that in snow that +.25 isn't going to make that much of a difference. Also, as I understand..in rain..the lower the car the more stable it is..right?
I see a lot of Honda's and other imports who travel in the right lane on the highway because everytime they hit a bump their whole car just jumps...I really don't want that effect. I want the ride quality to be just a little stiffer than stock. One final note...the ST springs will not drop my car lower than 1.5 will they?
So someone please answer the above mentioned questions and that'll settle my mind on ST or Eibach.........I hope.

Hey roman

Where are you buying your ST springs from? I was thinking about doing the whole suspension thing this summer, but I think buying springs and struts and then having them installed is going to cost around 400-500. I think that the cheapest place to buy the ST springs is JCWhitney (1-800-529-4486). A while back someone said that it would only be 130 + shipping, but I still haven't checked. As for the struts, are you going Tokicos? There's a GD on them now for around 270 + shipping. Good luck.

I am actually planning on doing the install myself..maybe with a friend. I got in on that group deal for 270 but I don't know if it's going on or not. I haven't checked the JCWhitney catalog yet but the ST springs in SHox.com cost around 170 which isn't bad. I still haven't decided which spring to get though, Eibach or ST.
The ST has a 1.5 drop while the Eibach has 1.25, I think both look good but I am kind of scared about the ride quality...the roads here in MA aren't that great. Most of them were used back when Horse and Carriage(sp?) were the preferred forms of transportation.

LOL roman, yeah I'm kinda scared of the roads here in Chicago too although after I'm done with college, I won't have to worry about crappy roads. I wish I could do the install myself and save a bunch of money, but I'd probably screw something up. I'll probably buy the ST sway bars before the spring/strut combo. Yeah, that GD has been ongoing for a long time, but I don't think it's going through afterall since shipping will push it over 300. If you decide to go with ST (I probably will), I would go through JCWhitney since they are a lot cheaper than shox.

Ngthing, the ST springs are NOT progressive (linear) and lower the car about 1.5". Personally I think they're awesome looking.

So you are going with ST springs just because they look better? Do you care about the ride or do you think it's the same as Eibach?
Also..I went to JCWhitney..the ST springs are $158 which is still pretty good.

I don't think that the website is updated. Someone on the 3rd gen BBS said that he got the new compact catalog and the ST springs were now $65 for the front and back. You should call them up to verify though.

I don't know if I'm doing the combo this summer...it depends on my financial state, etc. Plus, I bought my car at 63K miles, and the ride is fine...the struts aren't gone yet. So I would be spending like 500 just to make my car handle a bit better. I think if I did though I would go with the ST springs because I like the lower look. As far as handling goes, I think they would do the trick for me. The linear springs give the car a more stock ride as far as comfort but still better handling--that is, not as stiff as progressive. So I think the eibachs would probably handle better but for my purposes, I think the ST would be just fine.

Are you definitely getting tok's? Some people have KYB with their springs. In the long run, will these wear out faster than if they had gotten tok's?

Actualy i did for the first few months. i took it to the shop and the guy said that i had a serious case of toe out and not camber problems, so just get things checked out by a mechanic or you will be payin allot for new tires. oh yea it only wore strangely on the inside on my front tires, and im running on Dunlop sp sport w-10's

Ok..I have my mind made up now...I'm going with the ST springs. They seem to be close to stock comfort and offer good handling....from what people tell me anyway. I'll call JCWhitney and ask them how much they would cost.
Thanks for all the input everyone!

installing the front springs took 35 minutes, the back took signifigantly longer because of all the suspension parts you gotta disconnect.

So the ST springs handle more like stock ?? I want to improve the handeling of my car, but I dont race or anything, I dont want the ride to be really harsh b/c I drive all over the palce....SO maybe the ST would be better for me rather than the Eibach ??? Can someone clarify ??

well. . . .they're harsher than stock, but by no means are they bad. If you want to drive it every day you should defenitely go with a progressive spring setup (i think eibachs are) because they ride SOOOOOOOOOOOO much better. just my opinion though.
