Power Antenna Problem
same problem ---- fixed.
I had the same symptoms. I took the antenna assembly out, disassembled it and found the old lube had dried up pretty bad and caused a lot of friction. The beauty of this antenna is that every part disassembles, and every part can be cleaned and re-lubed.
One note of caution: don't get lube on the outside of the latgest (bottom) section. This is where the signal passes from the mast to the coax, and lube will act as an insolator. (happened to me -- I had the best moving, quietest, non-functioning antenna until I re-did it)
Good luck,
John

I replaced my antenna mast for about $35 from Courtesy last week. It took me about 30 minutes to do. Cheap price for a good repair. I disconnected my antenna ground almost 1 1/2 years ago. I went to a local shop and they said $300 to replace the antenna. As soon as I quit laughing, I politely told them to **** off and went home. Now, 1 year later and I fixed it for $35 bucks. Sometimes, I should just beat my own a$$ for not having the initiative to do stuff.

How do you get to the bottom of the antenna, I looked in the trunk really quick but I didn't have time to yank out the carpet. Is that the only way?

1.) Go to http://gen3.4mg.com/
2.) Click on "Library"
3.) Click on Power Antenna Replacement/Repair
There are detailed instructions with pictures, a step-by-step guide, a "tools needed" list, and the part # for the replacement antenna mast.
The instructions tell you how to do everything. If you have any questions, post them here and I will try to help you out as much as possible.

So if my antenna will go up and down, but it won't lower all the way, does that mean the mast is fine, but there's something obstructing it at the base?
