I got a tranny rebuild beginning of this year, but I havent had my radiator flushed. Sometimes the temp gauge goes crazy and heats up way tooo much...(even with aux tranny cooler installed)
Do I just need a simple radiator flush ? D-I-Y or dealer ? Whats the deal.... let me know what u guys think

Could it be something else... cause it happened some of the times.

The transmission cooler has nothing to do with the coolant temperature. Cooling sytems should have the coolant changed every two years. I think you should start with a flush, and make sure the fans come on when the engine gets hot. The temp guage needle should never go above 1/2 way with these cars.

Might not be a bad idea to replace the thermostate and/or the temp. sensor. You can clean the connections on the temperature sensor, I know alot of people have experience corrosion on the connector. When I did my water pump I went ahead and replaced the thermostate, I saw no performance difference but I know over time the termostate doesnt open at the right temp.

It's a pain in the butt to flush the radiator b/c there are two drain plugs in the block the one in the front will **** all over the alternator and the one is the rear is almost impossible to get at. I didnt remove the rear drain, so I just flushed with water several times knowing that in the end there would be a couple pints of water left in the rear engine gally. I used the better red antifreeze.

I have searched for the plug on the engine block to no avail. Where is it? The photo in my Haynes doesn't help either.

Its above the alternator and on the engine block. It points a little downward. I think its a 14mm bolt. Sorry I couldnt give a better discription of its location, its been a while.
