To all that have done the TB bypass.......

I did the bypass for the hell of it to see if I would notice somewhat of a difference and I swear that my manifold seems hotter than before. Is this possible? I mean, i can't put my hand on top of the manifold without burning my hand. I guess my question to the VE guys is, are all of our manifolds hot or is just mine hot? Keep in mind today was about 97 degrees outside.
Aaron92, I know that you have this done to you car; how long have you been driving with your bypass?

I dont think it is. DIY Measure, the gauge costs 10$. Hand is very rough in temp meas...

The block, exhaust, valve covers radiate heat, engine bay (idling) becomes hot, maybe hotter somewhat than coolant liquid. If this is the case, then coolant actually cools.

Another end of spectrum: Winter driving on highway, this situation has changed. At -20 the average temp under hood is about -19. Much earlier on moist weather TB might freeze solid if no heating.

If blocking TB heat helps any, its few hp while idling or low rpm, city drive. When full throttle, the airspeed may rise to about 500mph. With such speed, TB or intake temp has no difference; input air temp will not raise so much that u may measure hp gains. From standstill, when TB airflow is low, there may be a very little effect...

From start the TB stays cool if u hit the highway. After half hour, everythin is hot. Maybe its the air through rad...

Tested by clamping this hose [7.]. Note: clamp bypasses IACV overrun safety valve which is generally not good idea:

No, it's not possible. I doubt your measurements were consistant enough to get an accurate result. If you drive for 15 minutes longer than last time you felt your IM, then it could be considerably hotter than before. The only accurate way to level the playing field and get correct results is to start your car up in the morning after recording ambient temp and cold IM surface temp. Then, drive for 15 minutes, record all temps. Then drive for 1 hour, record all temps. Then bypass the TB and do the same.

I've been driving with my TB coolant bypassed for years now. You will NOT feel any gains. You won't even see any gains on the track even if you're as consistant as me. I did this a long time ago when I was bored and it's one of those mods that I know won't hurt performance. But, in theory, might help to a ten thousandths of a HP. Plus, I use this bypass to easily allow coolant to flow by my aftermarket coolant temp gauge sending unit.
