meh, it is much easier than that diagram. Most of the time on this "project" will be spent trying to pull the control arm off, not unbolting it, but you will need to remove the sway bar end link. Here is exactly what I did, got bolts off (which you already), then used a dremel with thick cutting disks and cut through the top outter metal layer (the part that surrounds the rubber bushing that is stuck in place), after being cut, the thing will actually spring open, just wide enough for you to wiggle it off. now all that is left is the rubber bushing itself, and the inner metal bushing (This is the pain in the @$$ part). Here you have to burn and scrape the rubber off, once you got to the inner metal sleeve/bushing, cut a notch into the metal sleeve/bushing, making sure that the cut is sideways, then using an air hammer, with a v shaped chisel point, I chiselled the bushing off in less than half a minute. Or you can try and dremel through the metal bushing, being careful not to cut into the gusset arm itself, then heat and use vise grips to wiggle it off.
I have replaced each control arm on my car but had no trouble if your balljoint is not bad all you need to do is remove 3 bolts thats next to each other in a triangle shape right next to the balljoint next remove 1 bolt that has a small bushing faceing down words then tha last bolt will be a long bolt that holds the control arm on remove that then wiggel it foward. Now if your ball joint is bad do not remove the 3 bolts thats in a triangl shape you must remove the center bolt within the center of the rhim.
I had to burn mine off. They're easy going on but after a few years they freeze. My guess is that moisture gets in there and it rust.
Try the propane torch and make sure you have some water near you.
I'm going to replace a bushing next week. I have a feeling its going to be very interesting.

urgh.. yeah.. that's a ***** of a job.
remove the Y pipe when changing the rack... you will at least be able to get your hands in there and work.
i have a feelin' i need to do that same but with both of my control arms since my car feels like it wants to pull to the right or left by itself. on top of that i have to change a wheel bearing and possibly both ball joints. just about 2 days ago i took a scare where the road was wet and it felt that my car wanted to take a sudden turn all by itself without me steerin' and it feels like my steering has a mind of its own. don't know if its my front suspesion goin' out or my tires or just everything all together. tie rods r brand new and so is my rack and pinion.
