I've got similar problem: to survive with a max in middle of nowhere. Being gouged to the max by stealerships...

- clean the bottle well. Cut some material off from it from places that really do not cause any structural weakness.
- If its a pinhole, use solder iron to heat the plastic around fluid, then drag over that place with a straight metal piece to create smooth surface. Use the extra material, heat it fluid to fill gaps.
- Long crack: Flat solder iron edge is best: if yout hole is long crack, first run it on both sides of the crack to create one higher 'ridge ' on top of the crack, then drag and level all this fluid mass down. Add plastic as necessary.
If no solder iron, gas flame can be used; problem is that lots light plastic ingredients burn and evaporate.
- U may use special plastic solder machine which has adding 'channel' in the nozzle. I have such device, and its great when the added materiel is excat with the being repaired. But seldom the case is that we dont know the materiel, and its age. In such case using the very same material is key to successful patch.

- use liquid sealant in the chain cover (some type may also be used on the bottle)

If you have a autozone or other parts like them,They have this stuff called "Quicksteel" plastic repair. It will fix your hole, just make sure the area is completely clean and dry. Maybe cleaning the area with alcohol....
