i need help removing driveshafts?

I am in the process of pulling out my auto transmission from a 92se. I have never done this before so i need a little help. what needs to be removed to take out the driveshaft? I took off the caliper, removed the wheel lock nut and lower strut bolts. What else needs to be removed. i cant figure out how to get this thing out. The only manual i have is the fsm for my 97 max which i am using for guidance but it is still different. any help would be great. thanks

the driver side will only require you to remove the shaft bolt (you know the big one connecting the wheel hub to the drive shaft), the tie rod from the wheel hub (just so you can pull the hub out of the way rather than remove it totally) and the three bolts connected to the ball joint on that side. once all that has been done you shoud be able to pry the shaft out of the tranny. the passenger side will require a little more work. do the same dissasembly as you did on the drive side but in addition to that you will need to go under the car and remove the y-pipe so you can access the three little hidden bolts that are holding that axle in place. The three bolts are 10mm and pretty easy to get off once the y-pipe is out of the way. also not that if your going to be removing the tranny from the car its best to totally remove the y-pipe to free up some under car space. well good luck and i hope that this helps you.

first i would like to thank all of you for your help so far. i have read the above link and reviewed a fsm for a 94 max. i removed those 3 12mm bolts that support the driveshaft but i cant get the damn thing out. i dont even see how those 3 bolts held it in but i have been pulling on this thing for a while and it wont budge. the drivers side was easy but the passenger side is a P-I-T-A. Am i doing something wrong ?

take a hammer...tap on the side that's on the axle and not the actual support for the carrier bearing.

tap it so it spins or turns. once you get it to turn/spin it will slowly separate...then use a pry bar in between and pry them apart.

sob...i'm simultaneously having the exact same problem. got the lh axle out with a good crowbar kick, but the rh is a ******. i didn't take the support bearing off, i didn't think i had to. it'd be nice to get this sucker out so i can take a pumice shower.

A or B? either way, it won't budge and bends that aluminum ring. B seems to be the correct one to me, but it's very hard to get a crowbar in there with a tight enough fit and slips out when trying to pry apart due to that 45 degree angle on the black cylinder thing.. good luck zx..

Probably because that is the wrong spot to be prying on. It seperates where the two pieces are bolted together.

ahh, i figured the shaft just went straight through the support... lame chilton's manual said "if neccessary remove bearing support". so i figured i might as well try without removing those bolts. makes sense looking at the seam and all thanks man, gl with your insurance claim btw..

I even pulled that link OUT of the general repair and made it it's own sticky because of the shear laziness of some of you guys.

edit: actually that autozone guide has some pretty decent visual walkthroughs. i always thought that they didn't cover these rides, i didn't know you had to look under '94 until today and always thought that sticky was sarcasm heh. that right shaft is definitely a ***** to get out while laying on the ground, got it done though. it was pretty rusty, but the hammer method worked. took quite a lot of banging though.
