finally secured my sub box
I got sick of messing with my sub box sliding around, so I devised a semi-easy (and cheap) way to keep it secure in a way that I could fairly easily take it out for racing.
I just went to the hardware store and found four matching "L" brackets and two long "U" bolts that lined up with the holes in the brackets. It cost me <$10 for this stuff and about 5 minutes to dig through the various size brackets and U bolts to find ones that lined up.
My box is pretty heavy and hasn't budged yet. I drove through some canyons really hard the other day to test it out. I am probably going to use locking washers, since the bolts that came with it tended to back out (you can see one loose in the pic).
One nice thing is there was no drilling, nothing permanent (except the screw holes in the back of the box) and the only way to really reach it is to take the back seat out. I can take out the back seat and the sub box in probably 15 minutes. Of course, most car prowlers do more damage to the car than the value of the stereo, but that is an added bonus -- the box is very hard to take, since you can't see what is holding it in place without coming in from the back seat area.

edit: I would have put this in audio and electronics forum, but I didn't know if other gens had the same metal bar going across behind the back seat, so I thought this was more 3rd gen specific.
