it's very likely the water pump or one of the bypass hoses.. check it out and fix it ASAP.
if it's from the water pump, then it's leaking onto your timing belt as well... they don't like antifreeze. fix it before you blow up the engine. (trust me when I say that...... it's a $2000 fix if you don't.)

sounds like water pump to me. i had the same problem 2 months ago. seals inside the pump corroded, leaking coolant through a small hole on the underside of pump neck. this should get fixed sooner than later, because at this point you're probably running 100% water in your coolant system. this will only lead to mass amounts of corrosion. then your heater core rusts out, then your radiator..... it's a terrible spiral of corrosion. get it fixed, and rplace the timing belt while you have everything pulled off the front of your motor.

with parts and labor, that price sounds decent. do you know how long it has been since the timing belt has been changed? the belt is right there almost in the way of the water pump. it would be a good idea to have it switched while the frontside of the motor is torn down. it will save you hassle in the long run if you're not sure how many miles it has.

heh... if he says $150 for parts and labor, DO IT.. and hold him to that.

hand him a new timing belt, tensioner, cam, and crank seals while he's doing it.

generally a water pump replacment costs $6-700 because you have to remove the timing belt to get to it. the pump itself is about $100 if you buy from the dealer, but you can get them at Vatozone and etc for about $35.

This is yet another one of those places that the work required in the job justifies using only OEM parts. I'd hate to do this job again because of cheap made in Taiwan parts.

no, it isn't. My first timing belt job w/ water pump took about four hours and I was going very slow and that included a trip to the dealer. should take about 2 hours max for a mechanic who is familiar with tensioning a timing belt and has tons of great tools.

I don't post much here but frequent the site often. If $150 is the quote you got for fixing the water pump, I believe that it's a good price since I just came back from my mechanic with the same problem on the car. Just the water pump itself is $400 and about $150-$200 more for the timing belt as well. And like what everyone else says, it's better to fix it sooner than later since it can create a chain reaction of expensive repairs.
