Where can I get a performance chip for my 1993 maxima gxe? I have been told that they can give up to 30 extra horse power, remove the governer, and cost like $150. Is this true. Also what exaust will give me the most hp? I'm thinking about putting 3" piping on and branching it so it looks like duel exaust, and putting 2 flowmasters with 3.5-4" tips. Im looking to stay under 350 if all possible, any suggestions?

You can buy it from cattman performance or jim wolf tech. they give like 30 hp with all the other bolt on mods...but not alone. exhaust itself will give you a like 5 hp, maybe 10.

the chip alone will cost you about 400$. custom work, probably about $350, brand name mufflers, 100 or so? it's expensive.

well my straight piping which is 3" cost me $250 already. That was a big discount on me. My best frends uncle has the shop. It's really great. You should go for it but i don't know about dual. It going to be to heavy.

exhaust mods

3" piping is only going to be for looks. We dynod a 4th gen Max with supercharger, a 3" y-pipe vs 2.5 , there were no gains realized by using 3". I would go 2.5 if you stay with a single outlet. If I were to go dual, You should look a 2 1/4" or 2" or you will lose low end torque.
BTW I have the JWT ECU unit. Never been sad I got it. Do your intake and y-pipe first, then ECU.

Yes, you will MAXimize your gains by doing your bolt ons first so you can configure the chip with the mods youve got.

Dan,
I sent you guys an e-mail about starting a y-pipe group deal. I wasn't sure if you handled that or not. Just checkin if you got the message or not because I was pretty tired when I sent it out, so I wasn't sure if it got to you or not. Thanks!

Mods

FitzMax I did see your e-mail. Have to say I haven't given it alot of thought. I have been busy working on Honda/Toyota mods(sorry guys). It is certainly a possibilty. I will be seeing Dallas in Kansas City this weekend and we can talk it over then. He lives in Arkansas, I in Minnesota. We talk on the phone and via e-mails frequently, see each other about every other month, sometimes sooner. Send me an e-mail next week.

CAI and y-pipe

The VE CAI is ready to go now. Dallas has at least red in stock, more colors at powder coating now.Call or e-mail him. We are waiting for a shipment of the lined flex pieces to come in. Should know a heck of alot more on Tuesday. If you come to Kansas City we will have one for people to check out.

Re: CAI and y-pipe

Sounds good Dan, thanks! There are about 5 or so people that have posted that they want a WSP Y-pipe. I will tell them you are going to discuss it with Dallas. I appreciate your help. Later!

Re: Re: CAI and y-pipe

Oh yeah, Dan. Whats going on with the 5th gen pipes? I don't remember if you said they were built and waiting to be tested, or if they were not built yet? A couple people have asked about them. Thanks!

5th Gen pipes

The OE pipe we were promised never materialized. I have now made other arangements to get it done. I should know alot more this Tuesday as I have a meeting with a new vendor. They do alot of bending and are suppliers of the new lined flex sections. We have an order in through a different company, but they are slow in coming. I promise to keep you all posted. Thanks for the interest.
