Who here uses synthetic oil? I recently changed my oil and replaced it with Mobil 1 Tri-synthetic Oil 10W-30. I am extremely happy with the results. No apparent oil leaks, no extra oil consumption and it seems as if the engine is running smoother.

How many miles does your car have?

139,000. I spoke with a mechanic about changing to synthetic. I had heard from many people that you shouldn't put it in high mileage engines and he basically said that was bullsh!t. He has been our mechanic for years and he never trys to rob us or give us bad advice. He said that if the engine had any leaks, then the synthetic oil would find them. Apparently, I'm good to go, because I don't seem to have any leaks.

I switched over to synthetic also about 3 months ago and was worried about high miles (120,000+) and leakage. So far I havent seen any leaks.. Engine did seem to run smoother but then again I may have been expecting too much from it.. Oh well, I plan on staying synthetic...

Did any of you guys do an engine flush, before you switched over to synthetic?

I heard that a flush takes out all the sludge and varnish buildup caused by using Dino oil.
