quick psi air pressure question

I looked at my tires and I thought they were a little low and so I filled them up and now. I noticed the tires were extremely stiff so I took my little electronic PSI thing and it said I had 85 in there, but the tire says max load 50PSI. Now I know I am going to do the obvious thing and take some out but what do you guys usually ride on considering your recommended PSI?

i run at 37, 38. i would imagine your guage is broke, it would take forever to fill it up to 85 if it didnt blow up!

I am running those same tires and i just checked the pressure with the old school gauge(measures in lbs) that pops out and that thing went out as far as it could. I guess I was wrong in thinking it needed air.

I have stock rims....so what's the big deal? Just went a little lower and wider, the rims can take that size no problem....

i did the same...tires cost a little bit more but they look way better than stock. you just have to take into account the 2% difference when trying to compute speed and mpg.

standard PSI is 32~35... but try 32... and you are lucky that it didn't burst on you at 85, cuz if it DID.... it wouldn't be funny man.. you would have no face~~MORE likely turn into the guy in the "HELLRAISER" movie..

thats nothing. when I was working for valvoline I had a woman come in with a 90 camry. stock steel rims with hub caps. she had 95PSI in all 4 tires! I couldnt beleve it so I got another gauge and that one also showed 95PSI. I guess she went to a gas station and put as much air as the compressor would allow in. I have no ideah how she didnt blow every tire off of that car.

actually I've seen dealers do that on used cars.
not sure why though it kills the ride, but it will help mileage at the expense of safety and tire life.

Used tire pressure is USER / tire dependent, load dependent, speed dependent, temp dependent. When all variables are at highest level, pressure has to follow.

No load, No speed, No Temp ...my citydrive wheels are soft and comfy, wear evenly ---> My tire pressure: 2 bars. http://www.sciencemadesimple.net/pressure.php

Nissan Handbook: "Look at center console located sign." ?? Meee... still trying to locate THE Nissan Center Console. Can u tell where it is?

Look at your Tires, Manufacturer Info:

Continental 15" sidewall says: Max pressure 44psi
Michelin 15" sidewall says: Max pressure 51psi
Note: Only Maximum pressure is indicated on the tire sidewalls. No recommendation for normal daily drive.
