cracked/broken injector plugs

my injector plugs stil stay connected, but the platic housing that holds them on are broken...all of them i can just pull them off and they come off..pretty easily i might add....is it worth buying new injector plugs?????since they are not a problem now should i just leave them??

On the VG the connectors are known to get corroded. I think Jeff has the part number, there is probably a generic part number for them as well. Check the connectors for oxidation, if they have even the slightest amount of corrosion it will definitly hurt your maxi-pads performance.

Try to smear the inside of the connector with dielectric grease. That might "hold" them in well enough. Not the greatest solution but.............

yeah, I wouldn't do that. remember dielectric grease is an insulator.

If you want to get rid of the corrosion you can use some baking soda in warm water with the help of a small paint brush. then wash the solution off with some warm water (not a lot, engines don't like water ) then air dry (compressed preferably).

To keep the connectors on, I would (after everything is dry) use a dab of silicone rubber on the outside of the connector (front or side, wherever is accesible). don't use too much otherwise you'll never get it off, but if you use a small amount and make a button out of it, it should be good (you should be able to peel it off in the future).

if the connector breaks and you have the pieces try using model cement to hold the pieces together

That says it all. Take them *6bosxh* out, try hittin magpies... plug in with NGK. (Well, seems u have one good, keep that as souvenir for u gran kids)

Nobody 'needs' connectors, theyre just a craking nuisance. However, conductance is imperative in this issue. In goes the mentioned contact grease, and strap em wires so that they have no way out.

are you sure you're not missing the metal clip?

if the metal clip is on and the injector is just falling out then it's not your connector that's broken..it's your male connector on the actual injector that's broken.

That's great that you wouldn't do that. But if you want a connector with green ooze like the picture above, that's what you are going to get. I suggested using the grease in the areas that the connectors slide against. This does not affect the connection and will effectively seal the connector.

It's common practice to use dielectric grease on all electrical connectors.

Vans...While your car is down,go though all the electrical connectors and sensor connectors on the engine and check them for that green crap...I found alot of that on my car a few yrs. ago...I cleaned them all and the car seemed to run and idle smoother....

No..You need to get a can of electrical parts cleaner, and a stiff bristle toothbrush to get that green crap off there..Then put some dielectric grease on them...
