Half Shaft Part number for VE

Half Shaft Part number for VE
I have read alot of problems with the fitment of the shafts from Autozone. Some have said that the auto shaft was actually a correct fit for the manual trans. I have not seen an Autozone part number for the shaft that fits, though. Does anyone have a driver side axle part number for a VE, manual, w/o ABS, w/ VLSD? Thanks.

When I bought MY passenger side axle, Autozone DID infact have the manual half shaft listed as auto on their system. The may have fixed this buy now, but I know that this was true as of 2 years ago.

Do not buy these from idiotzone..There parts # are wrong for alot of ve stuff....Same for advance auto...
Try the mom-n-pop auto parts stores in your area for ve parts....
The O.E. parts # is 39101-85E00

I believe that Autozone and Advance actually list parts for the VG30DE engine instead of the VE. This does cause a lot of problems but I don't know of any mom and pop stores left around here. We have an Autozone, Advance, and O'Reilly's all within a half a mile of each other and I believe they have run everyone else off. Closest Pepboys is in Knoxville but they are just as bad or worse than these three. Only other option is a Napa in Wartburg or Harriman.

My driver side axle came from O'Reilly, it's fine....and to add to what I said above, I bought the passenger axle from Autozone, took it home, and it was wrong, I took my axle (the one I took off) back to Autozone to match up, and it matched up with what they (Autozone), have listed as the automatic axle.

MrGone has has good luck with napa parts being right for the ve...Might want to try them...
There is one good mom-n-pop store here in crossville..I can get you there # if you want..

Its hard not to because they are so cheap....thier quality is horrible but in my case when I was rebuilding a VE that i got for 200 bucks its was a simple case of how cheaply I could get it on the road again. Autozone does has good quality electrical components

I for one am tired of autozone and advance auto's wrong part crap....when i was doing my tranny swap i spent 5 hours one of the days i was working on it running around trying to find the correct seals for the driveshafts..
What pisses me off most about the whole deal with az/aa is they do NOTHING to correct the issue with the VE part #'s for several parts being wrong in their computer systems...
From now on it's napa or the mom-n-pop parts store for me.....
Also for the record, i am on my second alternator from advanced auto...First one only lasted 9 months....

Travis, i see you are a "Donating Maxima.org Member" that mean you can use the search function. Do a search under my name, i found out that axle for a pass side for a VE auto actualy a the right one for my VE 5sp, but nobody seem to believe me.

ya i'm having this problem. axles from advance were a different length. ordered the auto ones.......i only checked the driver side.....slight length difference. I am replacing axles on a 92 SE Manual, vlsd, no ABS. I called napa.....don't they all sell car component technologies axles? Cause the kid on the phone told me he had them in stock....all i told him was SE maxima........i mentioned he didn't ask me for trans type, vlsd or not,ABS or not...he said they weren't listed differently.....this is pissing me off.

I had to get the drivers side one from O'Reilly....I just got another one (free on warranty replacement) yesterday, and it is correct, and listed correctly. Part Number 60-6010
The passenger side I got from Autozone, and at the time I bought it (2 years ago) the correct one for the manual was listed as auto.
But you ARE correct, if they do not ask you the 4 questions:
SOHC or DOHC
Auto or MAnual
ABS or NOt
VLSD or Not
Then they should have....I think that the VLSD option is the same part for the passenger side (I think), but they should ask you the question. A lot of the time they just ASSume, that you have auto, or you have single cam and don't even ask. I've been burnt by these assumptions so many times(even by dealers), that I basically MAKE them PERSONALLY GUARANTEE ME that it is right, even after they go back and ask the questions.

My car 92SE, VLSD, no ABS, driver's side axle.
NAPA had wrong part listed. Eventually tried AZ for Auto VE with LSD, no ABS after reading NismoChi's thread. I believe the AZ part number is 9781. It is a bit longer than the one listed for the manual tranny and fits great. However if I had to do it over again, I would just pull the axle, buy a boot kit and bring it to a shop to replace...unless your axles are dead.
Hope this helps people from not being screwed like I was.

Guys... most of the time the problem is NOT with the store on these axles. the computers are correct on the applications and part numbers. the problem is these are REMANUFACTURED AXLES... which means they take the crap that comes in the box, rebuild it, put it back in the same box, and ship it back out. if some goober puts the wrong axle in the box and they don't catch it at the rebuild house, then the wrong axle shows up in the box at idiotzone.
the first time anyone knows anything is wrong is when you get the axles off the car and compare to the ones in the box.
Generally what I will do is make them order two or three of the same axle, and then compare them all to my core sample and make sure it matches up.
As for what's what, the VE passenger axle is the same for auto/manual/VLSD/Open diff. the left side is different between VLSD and non-VLSD. and of course the ABS axles are all different.
BUT... you can use the abs axles on a non-abs car. the only difference is the ring gear pressed onto the end of the ABS axles.
so again, it's not the monkeys at the parts counter. it's the retards at the rebuilder putting the wrong crap in the boxes before they ship it out.
