post engine wash problems

Ok my 89 vg5 has no splash guards under and i've been waiting for my day off to go get some from the local u pull it. Any way's the motor was pretty dirty so I decided to wash it. I was pretty careful not to soak the key areas you shouldn't
So I start it up and it runs fine. Let it idle for a few minutes as I finished up cause I washed it in the wash bay at work. Drove it about 2 miles to the freeway and it runs fine. Couple miles into the freeway it bog's like the motor shuts off. I pump the gas a few times and it sorta come back on. It like surges between on and off constantly. It will not die and hold's and idle fine. But if you give it more than like quater throttle it kills the motor till you let off the gas. Please help I feel like an idiot.

on the maf

I wash my engine at home with degreaser and the garden hose...Before i start it up i use a leaf blower to completely dry the engine..I concentrate the blower on electrical connections/sensor connections/alternator/etc....I have never had any problems after i started using a leaf blower to dry the engine off....

MAF and distributor. the dizzy has some small holes on the bottom to vent air and moisture... problem is they can also get moisture IN that hole if you spray the area directly with water. that happened to me once a while back.

it's only a couple screws to pull the distro cap off, so you can check that quickly.
if there is, rinse it out with some brake cleaner or alcohol to remove the moisture and then reassemble.

the behaviour sounds more like a bad MAF though. it could be waterlogged as well.

Never splash water in computer rooms, not even in dreams - carefully or not.

What Danny suggests + Cap off, dry condensed water... (The front bank injector connector is hidden 2" behind from EGR.)

Youre NOT idiot regardless on feelins: Idiots keep watchin TV, careful not to make mistake=open hood...
