Getting Amazing Gas Mileage
Hey,
I am goin on week 2 with same tank of gas and have only hit the half way mark!. That is 225 miles on only half a tank is that pretty good? I havent be usally gettin this good of mileage. I drive about 38 miles a day. Could it be my new tires? Kinda wierd I bet I could get to 300 miles on 1 tank.

well, you can't go by the neadle, you need to refill and then take then measure the gallons used. my neadle drops 1/4 tank after the first 30 miles, but I get much better than 120 miles/tank.
assuming things really are good, proper inflation, balance, and alignment with the new tires could be helping, but that's pretty big jump
are you driving differently? - driving like a granny instead of a drag racer, not hitting rush hour traffic so you can cruise more
i think stations are switching to winter blends as well which could be helping a bit too.

how did you get such good gas mileage? What kinda tune up did you do? My max ran about 280 before the light come on permanetly until after refill. I get around 350 a few times. Hella weird! I thought it was the different gas station.

Well I noticed that some gas u get better mileage. My max only likes Mobile or Phillips 66. And I only use 89 or 92 octane. But I have been drivin normal mostly highway miles. Just about everything is new that u can get on a tune up, belts, hoses, pumps, tires, wires, plugs, brakes, struts, exhaust, cai, distributor, battery, fuel injectors, fuel filter the list goes on lol.
I just thought its pretty amazing I usally get abour 260 to 280 from Full to Empty. Now I am at just about 250 and only right below the half way mark. I could proably easly hit 300.

right now, Ive got 180 miles after filling up with just under 3/4 of a tank, and its getting awsome milage, especially for how ive been driving. I filled up with 89 insted of 87 and I have 17 or 18deg of timing (3 or 4 deg advance) and I drive very hard. I did one stint up to 120 and drive pretty hard. but once I get around the speed limit I hit cruise mode and jump into 4th or 5th and I take it easy. Its a 5 speed so I always coast when im slowing down, and I go real easy if Im about to hit a red light.
I cant wait to get a few tank fulls of gas through this so I can see how the mpg is. the car is missing alot, and leaks at all 3 places the y pipe connects to the rest of the car.
I really think using higher octane and a little more timing is very benificial to mpg. I got good gas milage with my vg auto but thats just because id drove easy. Im getting way better mpg already and Im hammering it every chance I get.
I got about 275-350 on my auto max, and it had 166K miles.i always used 87 octane then too. Id think you should be getting more then 250 or so. thats just low. I remember internetautomart saying he got less then 250. Thats crazy...

umm before my thermostat went bad on my Ranger i was able to get 400 miles outta of a tank once. but usually I get close to 350 and 300 when drivin real aggresive. with the bad thermostat i am usin close to 5 gallons a day. i only travel about 30 miles a day so i have drastically dropped

300 miles to a tank isnt amazing gas mileage.. thats normal
I consistently get 350-370 miles to a tank and 23-25 mpg city driving in my VE 5spd
I also religiously use Chevron 93 octane btw

my old max was getting about 200 to the tank.
I believe that it was due in no small part to the leaking exhaust.
of course my lead foot didn't help matters much either.
Driving style does play a LARGE part in fuel economy.
our minivan went from 14mpg to 17-19 mpg because we changed driving style

I drive 920 miles every week. On the highway I get exactly 32mpg doing 75mph. Every 3rd gen should do 400miles/tank on the highway easy...On my VE 5spd I always refilled every 420miles. My VG 5 spd is a tad better then that. If I did only 300 miles per tank I would start looking for my problem...

I drove to Missouri and back this past weekend from Kentucky, with no stops I was able to get almost exactly 400 miles out of one tank. My daily driving on back country roads and a 30 minute each way interstate trip 4 days a week normally sees about 310 per tank.

The best that I've ever gotten outta my max was 440 miles before filling up and that was before my fuel light came on (which turns on when there is approx. 5.5 gal. left in my tank) on my trip back from NC when I first bought the car. I agree with maximapitko if your getting anything below 300 miles to a tank I would start looking for problems (the driver perhaps?) and do a tune up.

I filled up last night, then went to work and to an appointment and the hand went almost 1/4 tank down. I freaked and topped up at the same pump on the way home. Turned out, that the 'new'sending unit (installed 3 years ago) is that much different from the old one I got used to. She used 15 liters to do 134 kms, which is 11.4 l/100 kms or 21MPG if I am not mistaken. Not bad for city start/stop mode.
I forgot to mention, someone was selling a 3d gen Max in town and the ad claimed it had 30 MPG... I loughed.

wow. my 240 now is getting about 150miles per tank normal driving. most i got was 180. 150 is half city half highway. im usually never in traffic or anything. this is with the stock ka-e. everytime i fill up its about 14-15 gallons. stupid 4 cylinder killing more gas than MOST of your 3rd gens.

Hmm, the first day i got my car I filled up and it was 13.xxx gallons and it took $43.xx got like 10mpg cuz of bad MAF and no tune up and nothing. Once I got everything changed I was getting about 17 mpg normal driving. Got my IACV adjusted and now I'm getting like 19.55 mpg on hard driving mixed highway and city, granny driving mixed city and highway gave me 25 mpg and that is the most I've gotten.
My car is running very rich right now and I suspect its injectors. I know for sure I need a new catalytic and possibly O2 even though the exhaust is new. Can the catalytic reduce my MPG?
Also my 0-60/75 is someone slow and got my *** kicked by a RAV4 but then after 80 I took off could that be something fuel related?

heh, may be the true comparison should be highway anyways. There are many diff. factors in city driving that determine the mpg's but on the highway all you have to do is maintain a certain speed in the highest gear possible. Heck, I bet I can get below 10mpg in city driving if I want to...anyways.

91 Maxima just bought it about a month ago and first time I checked the mileage was right at 25 MPG mixed city/highway driving. I can't wait for a good road trip to see what it gets on an all Intersate trip.

I dont know but I just got 12mpg out of this last fill up...of course it wasnt out of a full tank I just put in 10 bucks about 4.1 gallons. Not good but I guess I did step on it a bit

My 93 Max SE 5 SP has done 22-23 mpg since the day it was new. It has 149000 on it now and still gets same as new mpg. That is driving city/hwy combo with speeds up to 100 mph on hwy but usually in the 80-90 mph when I can. PS. I live in FL with speed limit 70 on the highway so if you don't do 80 you basicly get run over...

Farthest I have gone without filling is 440 miles. That time I filled up about 17 gallons. But I also have noticed that the gas gauge doesn't always sit at the same place after a fillup...even from the same gas station. Basically, it doesn't always fill the same amount every time.

Old o2?
Exh leak?
Faulty injectors?
old plugs?
old wires?
dirty filters?
heavy/wide wheels and tires?
Seized brakes?
Start to look and you'll find something wrong to cause that bad of mileage, heck you're the worse I've heard of yet.

I have replaced the air filter with KnN filter, replaced fuel filter, replaced plugs, wires new,i don't think i have an ehaust leak,
i might have old o2 or injectors or my brakes could be dragging!
How do i check to see if my brakes are draging?
thanks
