ok, i dont know if anyone has done this, and it's defenitely not emissions legal, BUT, my buddy and i were talking, and we may be making a tin template of my EGR valve's bolt patern and gasket, and we are going to make a plate to block off my EGR valve. I think i can get away with it cause PA doesn't check for the thing it prevents. like NOX or something. I'm not totally sure, but it would be SOOOOOO nice to not have all those hot exhaust gasses going back into my intake. anyway, how does everyone feel about this? If it turns out successful i may sell a few of em on the side.

im not sure but,

I believe the exhaust gas recirculation valve only remains closed or "recirculateing"untill you car is warm enough, then the valve opens and let's it flow. but im almost possative it's only purpose is mostly for warming the engine, atleat that's how it was on a ford ltd i worked on, im sure someone will update this with more info good luck

Damn, Flyry, you don't have the "mod bug", you have the "fabrication bug"!!!! With that custom intake and breather you just put together, and now this idea. Go to town, buddy!

You should keep the EGR....

One of the primary functions of the EGR is to reduce cylinder head temps by introducing inert gas (spent exhaust) in the A/F mixture. This reduces the temp spikes I believe. Also a properly functioning EGR is inactive at WOT and only active below 3000rpm during normal driving. There is an easier way, just unscrew the tube that runs to the exhaust manifold and put a bolt to plug it. Then you can just plug the other end. If anything an oil catch can should be installed. This would keep those nasty oil vapors out of the intake manifold.

the egr is actuated by the vacum created by the engine at higher rpm's . all you have need to do is unplug the vacuum hose going to the egr then plug or duct tape the loose vacuum hose then there wont be any vacuum to pull the plunger up inside the egr.
Also Nismo87se is correct about the exhaust gases lowering the cylinder temps.
although I think at WOT the egr will be active. High vacuum will open the plunger inside the egr.

hmmmmmmmmm i think i'm just gonna do it anyway. I"ll just block it off and then i don't have to worry about vacuume and wondering where it kicks in cause it'll be blocked.
