To anyone who has replaced their IACV on a VE Motor
When you guys replaced your old IACV for a new one, Are their any gaskets that I need to buy to replace the old one(s)...Also, would I have to take the throttle body off to get to the IACV?
Thanks
Thanks
Yes there is a gasket....No you dont have to take the tb off to get to it....When i took mine off to clean it,my gasket didn't break or tear..So i just reused it...If your going to replace it with a new one then i would buy the gasket...
The gasket is cheap, just get it from a dealer. I suggest actually replacing the both the TB and IACV gasket at the same time. It's easier to access the IACV with the TB off and you can clean both thoroughly. You don't have to take the TB off, but while you are in there, you might as well clean up everything you can and not worry about it for a while.
One word of caution: because our cars are pretty old, they might not have the gaskets in stock, especially the IACV. I would make sure you have the gaskets IN YOUR HAND before actually disassembling your car.

buy a new one
chances are it will tear and could cause you a headache. I've had a few that haven't but most have, regardless I still use sealer on them. IACV = not fun to have a vacuum leak with
(even moreso with a boosted car)

If the gasket is crap and you can't find one at a dealer you can always make a gasket yourself. They sell gasket material at AutoZone and you can just trace the old gasket and cut the new one out with an exacto knife.
