I was driving around the other day with the A/C on. Took a right hand turn and about 8 ounces of water spilled on to my passenger floormat. Damn that sh*t stinks!
Anyone know why this happened? I tried looking for a loose hose, but couldn't find one.

Appreciate your help!

Hadley

there's a hose on the bottom of the A/C box under the dash.. the cold tubing on the A/C evaporator comes in contact with the hot, humid air inside your car and water condenses on it.. jsut like beads of water on a cold glass...

So the a/c box has a drain at the bottom of it.. I dunno if ours has a hose that runs outside the car and dumps, or whether it just dumps straight out the bottom of the box outside the car..

Either way, I would suspect that thing is plugged.. probably mud or road gunk over the years..

so your evaporator box gets full of water and overflows..

it probably stinks because that stuff has been in there forever and has begun to mildew or something..

if you're competent in changing your own oil, then you can probably find the problem and fix it.. if not, I highly suggest taking it to an A/C shop or mechanic and have them fix it for you.

Hey Matt

Well competent enough to do the job, but it's a matter of finding the box you speak of and draining it. Do I access it from the interior, or the exterior?
So many questions - so little time.
Thanks for your reply to my strut brace post as well Matt.

Regards,
Hadley

or it could be the insulation on the system,

just get your hand's dirty, it wont cost anything, and the problem will be obviouse. The hose come's out in the engine compartment, check it for obstuction's, if none, follow it through and find the kink or blockage. If none found, im sure you will see the faulty or out of place insulation, just keep your eye's open, this is a very simple and free fix

Insulation

Thanks for the heads up Bigjay. I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know how it turns out. I don't really think it's a big fix or anything, because the A/C is blowing cold air.

Cheese,

I would suggest checking all the hoses. It should be evident. If it has ran over into your car, you might want to check out the O-rings and gaskets where the hoses connect just to be sure that it doesn't happen again.

O-Rings

O-Kay. Will do.

Say - while I have you here. I've been looking at the various Xenon bulbs out there. Last time I attempted it I fried my wiring harness. Looking to try again, but still confused as to which bulbs to be wary of. I know I need 9004's in the front and 1157's in the sides, but sometimes on eBay I'll see XENON/HID look for Maxima's but it doesn't get specific. I guess I'm fine as long as I stay with the recommended wattage, which I believe is 55w? I see alot of the 80/100w. I have to stay clear of these correct?

Thanks guys.
