I am assuming that by active speakers you mean BOSE correct?....if so you won't be able to find exact size replacements because of there odd shape...basically you can put any size you want in up to 6.5"...you will have to just make new pods for the new speakers to fit into...

good brands depend on your listening style...i personally like infiniti's, pioneer and rockford are ok...just go to some stores/shops and listen to what they have and select something that fits your listening needs....

At some point, they took the name Bose off and put on "Active Speaker". Same thing. You have a Bose System.

I have the Active Speakers too, it's not bose though, Mine had the base stock Nissan deck not Bose, Sony 6 1/2" paper cone speakers, and a Clarion little round amp mounted on the rear deck. -shrug-, whoever had it before had a system in it, they cut bigger holes in the rear deck and the wiring for the amp was all screwed up i didn't have any sound on the back speakers so i cut the wires to the Amp and ran the wire to the speakers and then took out the amp and Sony's and put in JVC 6 1/2"s.

This is incorrect. "Active Speaker" is that they stamp on all the NON-BOSE systems.

In that case, you have 4x6 speakers in the front and 6.5" in the back.. just about any brand carries speakers to fit, ranging from $30 to $300.
Pioneer are fine for a "decent" setup, if all you want is something better than stock. Spend about $60-100/pair and you should be happy.

If you plan on installing a new deck and possibly an amp later, I'd recommend spending a little more on the speakers.. $100-150.

hope that helps.
