I have done this in my 240, not in my maxima, but from looking at my maxima FSM it looks to be the same procedure. It is just a stud pushed through the hub. What you need to do is pull the hub assembly out (the part that has all 5 lug studs). Then just hammer the stud out, I used a vice to hold it in place, and an old chevy valve rod to punch the broken stud out. Buy a new stud at a local automotive shop, or dealer. I paid about $1.50 for the stud so price shouldn't be prohibitive. Then once you get the stud out, place the new stud in and either hammer that thing back until it fully seats, or use some sort of trick. One thing I learned afterwards is you can use the lugnut to draw the stud all the way up to the hub just by tightening it. After that you're all set, just stop torqueing your lugnuts like the Hulk and use a torque wrench to the right specs (72-87 ft/lbs). You'll be surprised how little that is.
