Well I got my belts wet a while back and they squeak and squeal and so I bought some belt dressing. I put the stuff on with the car running and everything seemed fine, until the next morning. I started the max up the next morning and a cacophonous noise was emanating from the engine bay. It was the belts and they were worse than ever. The noise went away after about 10 minutes of driving, but it ever since I put the dressing on my max continues to make the noise whenever I start it up. I sprayed the belts today with water in the hope of getting some of the dressing off and alleviating the noise. Does anyone have any suggestions besides getting new belts, which I don't want to do?
