No, realistically, for how long Matt and Jeff will keep their 3d gen cars, before going several generations up? Any one wants to place the bets?

I got $50 on Matt never getting rid of his, but instead buying more 3rd gens for parts.

not only that but because they have so much knowledge they could be reading the classifieds one day in a casual manner and see a 3rd gen maxima for sale for dirt and know exactly whats wrong with it and source parts real cheap.
Face it maximas are like a giant rubber band...they harder you pull away from them the faster they pull you back.

Well if they leave wont be much of a lost for me. I too am modding the hell out of my own max and eventhoug my knowledge is pretty tight. I'm still getting the hang of max specific stuff. Once I get the ecu hacking down everthing else is pretty much easy street.

I'll post pics soon, I'm ordering ceramic pads and vented rotors to hold me over until I do the Z brake swap later down the line. Right now I have a 16G to mount and some other turbo essential stuff to buy. My goal is this time next summer to be somewhere in the high 8's low 900's. (Granted I'm young single and have no bills, did I mention I'm leaving for the navy soon inlistement bonus = more money for my car ).

Pfff most supra guys making that kinda power don't drive it as it is and belive me all have lots of bugs along the way to prolly keep it grounded. I'm trying to see if I can get stationed in japan. If that's the case I'll have it shipped over (navy is paying for it to come back) and go nuts with some of the top tuners around.

I guess once they leave people are gonna actually have to learn something about their cars or pay to get the search option where almost every topic has been discussed. When I find a third gen again the first thing I am doing is pulling the engine and build up the bottom end. All I need is an engine hoist, fsm, a prayer, every tool in my garage, and a gag for when I have the urge to yell cuss words. I have never in my life done that but in order for you to learn your car you have to go beyond your boundaries and explore instead of relying on someone elses knowledge all the time.

Precisely. I have zero pity for the people who leech knowledge from this board on a regular basis but refuse to pay to search. There are thousands of posts that cover every conceivable topic. I rarely use this forum anymore to ask questions - I just search. It is all there. Look at this way, you can search by username as well as subject. You could have all of Matt and Jeff's opinions and knowledge right at your fingertips.

There used to be a lot more knowledgeable people that frequented this forum. Some, but not all of them, grew weary of answering the same crap over and over and over again so they stopped participating.

Finally, you are ignorant if you think Matt and Jeff are the only people with 3rdGen knowledge worth sharing. Awsm66, Aaron92SE, MrGone, DanNY, Brad92SE, Chris91SE just to name a few have experience that goes far beyond the basics. Heck, I have a great deal to offer myself.

In summary, donate, search, be happy.

p.s. There used to be a gentleman named Daniel B. Martin who was, IMHO, one of the most valuable members to ever post at Maxima.org. He was a 4thGen God. One day, several years ago, he posted a goodbye thread and left. Poof. It created quite a knowledge vacuum. However, others stepped up, donated, participated, and everything was okay.

The same would happen if Matt and Jeff left. If that day comes, do you part! Donate, participate...

/soapbox. Have a nice day.

I'm not fed up with 3-gens but I've had my fill of them though. 3 engine swaps, 4-5 clutch jobs, 2 full suspension swaps, numerious hours working on mine, family members and friends.

I'll still visit to ban and lock threads
