Strange Wurring Noise 92 SE Auto
Hope you guys can help me with this one. My 92 Se has developed a wurring noise in the engine the increases with acceleration and disappears after warm up most of the time. Sometimes it doesn't go away at all. I'm new to the VE and understand that the VTCs make a clacking noise when bad but this is a loud high pitch "weee" that doesn't sound like a tapping at all. It seems to be comming from the rear of the engine. Any thoughts? Thanks for the help.

You may have a bad heater/ac fan motor...

There is no change in the noise when the heater A/C motor is turned on. The noise increases and decreases based on the throttle. I checked the p/s fluid level and it was at the correct level when cold but I have not checked it when it was hot. I did notice that my GXE has a strainer insert in the p/s fluid resivor to keep dirt out and my SE does not. Maybe there is a good possibility that a bunch of crap has ended up in there from the previous owner. Thanks.

I changed my high pressure hose on the p/s pump and
I've had the same noise since. I tried to get the air out
as explained in prior threads. The only thing i wonder is
if I used p/s fluid in pump after hose change would that
cause this? I read here that Nissan used tranny fluid in the
pump,is this true? thanks

Most likely cause of this type noise is either alt. or idler pullet bearing crapping out.
Use long screwdriver while running and noise is occuring and put tip os screwdriver against each pulley stud and put your ear against handle and listen.
The bad bearing will sound the loudest.

I checked the fluid level when hot and it is reading a little low. The fluid is the color of burnt transmission fluid and I found a small leak in one of the hoses. I have a feeling this is the problem. I'm going to change out the fluid and bleed the system this weekend and see if that takes care of the problem.
