Blower motor resistor

I'm about done with ebay; I purchased a blower motor resistor for 89-94 Maximas because mine is broken (only works on full blast).

Upon installation of the new one (one that seems outdated, i might add), i turn on the car to check it out and it doesn't ever shut the blower off. Speed selection works, but it never turns the blower off...and all motors like to blow up after excessive use....

So I take it that theres a difference between 89-91 and 92-94 blower motor resistors? Or did I just get ebayed again?

I noticed this resistor uses some cheap pink board and black solder-wannabe instead of the green, doped down silicone and beautiful solder you and I love so much.
There are a few inductors at the back of it instead of the long poles on my 92 as well. Seems like it could be off of a WAY older Maxima or a cheap knock off that doesn't work.

Seems to be manufactured by "Mason" instead of "Nissan"

you can easily fix the resistor by soldering the broken joint.

If it is the auto climate control resistor, a solder job won't fix it. It has an electronic chip in it, looks like an integrated curcuit. I tore mine open and when I found this, I went straight to the dealer and bought a new assembly. It was way less than a hundred bucks too, BTW.

My automatic climate control is doing the same thing;
the blower is on no matter what you do. The local
deal said that the part I need is something like $27,
but I did not tell him it had an auto climate control,
so maybe it was the right part, maybe not, but it's
still blowing and I have yet to get him to order the
part, so I'm really no help am I?

I tried the manual climate control resistor in place of the auto climate control resistor.

The fan would never cut off. Had to get the correct part.

It actually could be an equivalent resistor with some
sort of heat shield over the posts that protrude into
the air duct....that's why it looks the way it does.
But to be safe, I think I talk to the local dealership...
after I check the resistances on the old resistor with
a meter and resolder the solder joints.

I'm getting confused between the 2 threads now.

I'm with internetautomart here.

From what I read, it sounded like you have auto climate control and bought a resistor for manual controls and it didn't work (surprise surprise). Now you went to the junkyard and got ANOTHER one from a manual climate control car???

from ebay, i was sent the manual resistor...it changed speeds, but the blower was always on...not good.
today, i got the correct one from the junkyard (automatic...has the silicon board in it). its doing the same thing as the one in my car i replaced before i left indy, but didnt have the ***** to march in and complain about a replacement part from a junkyard...and it might not even be the resistor.

before i go and buy another one, do you think its something wrong with the car or is the replacement broken as well?. thats $48 in the hole now....

i opened up my original; there was white paste on the bottom of the microchip; don't know if that's part of the problem or what. probably just need to go to the stealership for this part.

the one on rockauto is for the manual climate control, which is what i received via ebay. it will not work....unless you want your blower on ALL of the time.

Ooof!

This the part in question correct?

http://www.courtesyparts.com/Merchan...Code=J30AC-AMP

They call it an "AC Fan Control Amplifier Assembly." And it goes on to say
"This unit controls the automatic AC blower system."

Wonder what the local dealer was going to sell me for $27 ? Probably the
part for the manual HVAC system.

Courtesy wants $65.95 for it....can't blame you for trying to get one at the
salvage yard; I was thinking of dropping in at the Brickyard (near Mooresville)
to see if I could get one. I'll probably bring some tools along and try the
one I pull to make sure it works before I leave the yard since it only takes
a few seconds to swap out.

Haven't heard of Happy's but then, I'm down in Bloomington.
I've gotten quite a few things from Brickyard in Brooklyn
(south of Mooresville) because I go up that way to get to
the Indy airport. I will be stopping in there on Monday
before my trip to Boston to see how much they want for
an "amplifier assembly"...

I'll take the Maxima up to the airport instead of my truck
and have the glove box out so I can get to where the
assembly goes into the ductwork to verify that it works.

If you are not wanting to deal with Happy's and try to
get them to refund your money or get you another one,
I could pull two of them and check them on my car and
send you one of them. That is, if you can somehow
convince yourself that this is the cause of your problem
and you want to give it another try. I don't want to pick
up one for you, verify it's good by plugging it into my
car, then send it to you only to find out that the problem
lies elsewhere.

Of course, I could be in the same boat...my problem might
not be because of the amp assembly either.

thank you for your help. i think im going to wait it out a while. let me know how it goes. its quite possible, being a junked car, that the one i bought was bad as well. as i said before, i could change speeds with the manual climate control, but it never wanted to shut off totally.
