Transmission oil drain plug

I need your advice on what tool to use to unscrew the automatic transmission oil drain plug on GXE model (Sonc Engine). When I did it the last time (40K miles ago) I damaged it slightly, so it is not quite square now and it is pretty stiff. I have 160K on the car and would like to change the transmission oil. It is still kind of redish color, but not as 'chery' red like it was before.
I would appriciate your input on this.

run the engine/tranny for a little bit to warm (not hot) up the tranny.
get a 1/2 inch drive w/ extension and start turning.

have a new plug handy.

Thank you. Do you think an impact wrench could help to break it loose?

if it wasn't all bent up i would say give it a shot...but since you already started to round off the square...you're better off using a wrench and turning it by hand because the impact will strip it all together once it slips off.

then you're in for more work than you ever would've bargained for.
