I've been doing some work to the maxima since I discovered the tranny issue was actuully a really,really simple one. Anywho, evertime the car is running or just tranny the ABS light is own. Now I know it need a TOTAL brake job and I plan on taking care of that this week. Anything else it could be before I get under there so I can fix it while I'm there. Or will the problem pretty much go away after the 400 dollar brake job.

 

just get rid of the ABS

 

I take it there's a system of ISH to take off ? Little more info would help,I've never owned a ABS car until now...lol

 

Hey, I would check your altenator
and make sure it is charging the system.
Mine went bad kinda slow and the abs
light came on and stayed on until it quit
one day. just a thought d.w.

 

you most likely have a bad sensor or something.... does your brakes just lock up and does your ABS kick in when it is locked up?

 

No,the brakes are worn down to the metal (it was like that when i got it), So I'm buying pads (ceramic),calibers (just in case the olds ones are gone),rotors (hell you can ski down the *****s),and bearings(later on).

 

Check the ABS control module in the trunk. Silver box looking thing behind the right speaker. It will blink out a code, but I think the key needs to be on.

 

how would u go about decoding that code it blicks?

i also had my light on after doing some battery/terminal work. the voltage wasn't sufficient for the system so it would constantly activate. let the system charge up and no more problems. if u're not getting any activation from the system, and ur fuses r ok then i would begin down the diag road with the link above. btw, the fuses of interest r in the little black box in the front driver side of the engine near the air filter. i think nissan marks them as "anti-skid". i had 2 fuses but i've seen some with only one
