exhaust rusted out

I have all new exhaust minus the center pipe running to the cat coverter to the muffler. So I was wondering why the car felt as if it was running rich and loud on my way to work yesterday morning. After work I was walking back and saw the muffler pointing up, took a closer look and the connection at the muffler totally gave out.

How much should I expect to pay to have that mid pipe replaced in between the cat and muffler?

not much, if you just get a regular pipe and no resonator, theyll probably do it pretty cheap since itll just be the pipe

Called 4 exhaust shops in my area. 1 shop would not quote me unless he saw it, Midas wanted $350 , and Meinekee wants $213 which is what I'll probably go with. He told me the pipe is $123, and then the labor involved.

a shop near me charged me $55 to put in 2" diameter pipe between my cat and my muffler in my 2nd gen, just to give you an idea. It was mandrel bent and everything, and also came with a 6 month warranty.

If it is just a bad weld coming apart by the beginning of the exhaust they should be able to repair it for cheap. I would say the $50 mark sounds about right. I always take my cars to auto air muffler and brake city. If your exhaust is loose you might as well finish it off and put an aftermarket one on. Otherwise I had them put headers, new 2 1/2 in piping and mount custom exhaust for $125.00 on my pulsar. My 2 cent.

I ordered the "B" pipe from Warp Speed Performance- $125 plus @ $40 shipping with UPS. No stores, no shopping-easy people to deal with.

I replaced the whole exhaust system-all rusted out. The flex pipe was trashed. Try Warpspeedperformance.com-I got my Y-pipe for @$200, plus $14 shipping.

To clear up any confusion, this is the midpipe that ruseted out, not the flex (y-pipe).

It goes like this from front of the car to rear:
engine -> flex (y-pipe) -> cat converter -> mid pipe -> muffler
